New Site Layout Version 2

As some of you may know we have been trying to improve the home page of the website. The main objective is to tie the gas price search box more closely with the search listings, and to shift the gas price listings higher on the page.

We've read you comments and made a few adjustments. Stats from the "My Acvitiy" area are now at the top of the page with the existing stats. There are some other minor changes as well. Everything on this version of the site should be fully functional. If you see anything that is not working please let us know.

We want to hear your feedback!

See the new proposed page layout in action: The proposed revisions to the home page

Please vote in the poll about it: Poll about the new layout

After, please leave your thoughts on the proposed changes here: Message forum discussion of new page layout

Thank you for your input!

Too many ads, especially the ones that have nothing to do with the Gas Buddy mission, and those that have gross pictures. I appreciate that this site is free, and ads make it possible for Gas Buddy to be both up to the minute and responsive to us members.

In some cases, change is good, but on sites like this one, I sometimes think that leaving it alone is best

improvements are better however the site is still clunky and hard to navigate. there is a lot going on and there needs to be a better way to club things under logical groupings.

I can't get the proposals to load but I do have a suggestion for the trip planner. If one could save a trip it would be good as planning usually takes place over days.
Or if one could email a link for the trip to their own email and return later without putting in the route again.
I use the site for planning and am retired so I do several trips a year:)
Otherwise, I agree with the idea of adding places for gas price restrictions (like Smiths) and would like the regular to specify octane. Several stations have lower octane fuels (85) and advertise it as the same as 89.
Keep up the good work!

I can't get the Saved Fuel search tool to work. Keep getting "No current gas prices to report". If I manually search, it works. Yes there are many gas prices in the database to report - I just entered about a dozen.

1. I agree with several other posters that Favorites should be closer to the top. I often revert to the full site on my smart phone to access some of the extra features, so it would be nice if it was right there.

2. I agree that it would be GREAT if a you could add a button, drop-down list, or dual price boxes to allow for cash, credit, or carwash prices. This might require another feature: the ability to add another line (for more than 4 prices.) Also, more and more stations now advertise E85 as well. Maybe the last box (Diesel currently) could be used with a button to select diesel or E85.

3. Otherwise, I love the mobile app, and use it nearly everyday. It has made me much more aware of the fluctuations and price trends in my area. Besides having GB to guide me, I know at a glance whether a price is decent or not.

Thanks, GB!

My problem is this software does not except the city I live in. It puts me in Miami and I do not like Miami. Driving to Miami is a nightmare coming true. Every time I sign in I have to put in my zip code. It sucks

I'd still like to see the listing of 'My Favorite Stations' moved up above the 2 lists of the lowest and highest prices in the state. I'm out here in the boonies on Kauai, and I seldom care what the prices are on other islands. When I want to know, I can look, but on my home page, I want my favorites featured.

Otherwise I like it a lot.

I could do without the two lists of highest and lowest prices that appear at the top of my home page. There should be a little check box or a preference to disable them. All I want is my favorites.

Not sure when this went into effect. I'm a newbie, so this is a first impression rather than a comparative impression from whatever it may have been before.

When I come to GasPrices.com, I would like to see (automatically) the prices of my favourite stations - the ones for which I frequently post prices. Instead I have to enter my postal code to bring up the price entry form. Can't a cookie be used to let you know who I am and then bring up my favourites instead of remote locations?

I'm surprised there is so much positive. Am I missing something? I like the current page better for the following reasons:

- New have more and larger advertising at the top. Is that your most important focus? Seems so.
- Why are MY stats. Shouldn't you be encouraging ME to come back?
- I probably missed in with the once-over, but where do I post a price for something that is not on my list. It seems that should stay at the top to encourage me.
- I just feel like your front page has lost a sense of community. Please don't make it just about making a buck like it appears to be.

I like it! Anything new is always better, because its different, and draws attention to itself. But also is a page that is laid out very well!!! Everything works well, prices are easy to find and also stations. And the added, if they are open 24 hours, clean, have food, or just snacks! Helps me out quite a bit in my travels!

I'd like my favorite box be at the top of the Home screen. Or, have the ability to arrange the layout.

I'd like to see my favorite station list on my igoogle n someone create a gadget to display my favorite list?

Said I have no opinion. I have been off the site for several years (health-surgery) problems so I have not kept up and really don't remember the exact way things were.

I just noticed that my "favorites" need some serious updating because, for instance, we no longer have Diamond Shamrock stations. etc.

On my screen the Search Box comes in below the horizon. OK, it's a minor point, yes... just mentioning it. I imagine some good practical reasons why it doesn't matter. 1) anyone who is really interested will be scrolling the page, so it will show up. 2) anyone who is really interested will hunt for it. 3) that part of the page is a constant, and the parts that need to be most visible are the parts that change. Can I change my vote?
