If power goes out you have lots of time to shut the system down normally but the best thing is during voltage fluctuations such as AC switches on or off or there is a thunder storm - absolutel clean steady voltage/power to your sensitive equipment. We have saved lots of money using these. Neighbors have had to replace TV's and other equipment. We got hammered by a lightening storm two UPS units were fine -- one got fried. Replaced free under warranty. No damage to electronics.
