I always remember Heinlein's quote of Lazarus Long - "Your enemy is never a villain in his own eyes. Keep this in mind; it may offer a way to make him your friend. If not, you can kill him without hate - and quickly." ------------------ Myself I do try to make those who look at things differently from me a friend - I choose to not implement the last part though.... I did try to talk to buzzed. He is illogical to the extreme and I blocked him from further posting on my WB.

Agreed for sure - In reality there is not a whole lot of difference between the two. Beliefs of almost any kind carried to the extreme is harmful for folks.

I only had a fleeting contact with them - got a chance to shoot a couple rounds once. Not in a combat situation. When shooting a few times in earnest I only used 00 buck.

I knew about the other rounds but I never came in contact with them. I did fire a couple of those shotgun rounds though.

RJ - add to that slug or shot something I heard was used a little in SE Asia in the 60's called flechette rounds. I'm not sure of the spelling but I understand they were a bunch of tiny arrow like things in a shell.

Watch out for the gas price increases. I started to warn everyone as quick as I could last week before they started to trend up again. We're up by 32 cents a gallon at quite a few stations now since last Sunday. The 2nd round of increases started Tuesday as I had expected, still ongoing today. The 3rd is coming up, here and most everywhere.

Coal can be as clean as natural gas if they want to do that. I don't have a problem with coal if used right. Mining it isn't a great thing though, not even underground. Much can be done with coal, and it's better than all the fracking we're doing. Coal can be converted into methane, gasoline, natural gas, oil, diesel, and much more as you also noted can be done with coal. Our need for electricity is going to be around, so will the need for oil and gas, etc. People aren't going to own EVs, hybrids, plug-ins, etc., as the price is too high for most of us to even think about buying one, or any new vehicle for that matter. We might have a few thousand miles between us and China, but it's still adding plenty to the pollution of the world while we're adding less today. I'd like to see more done with alternatives, but just like they've had 40 years to get it right already, they won't even over the next decade.

good avatar!! have a good night care to be buddies?

by LanguageMan1  Mar 12, 2014

" Sure, as long as you don't care about breathing, or the health of yourself and your children." People actually DO care about breathing, the heath of their children or their own, but most don't want to pay $5 for a loaf of bread or a dozen eggs, and that's what's gonna happen as a result of all this and even more. I'm all for alternatives, but coal can be used for many things, and the use of coal can be cleaner. Doesn't have to be and isn't like it was 25 to 40 years ago or like it is in parts of China today. We're doing a lot here, in Germany, in Japan and France, but it's not all on us now any more.
