I also only remember tomato plants growing about 3 to 4 ft at the most, I do believe your raised beds are helping, the ground where mine are growing so good, I have been working on amending for 2 years now with cardboard, veggie scraps, shredded newspaper straw and it is so nice and crumbly now, but when we bought the house the ground was all red clay and as hard as a stone! The area where my plants are doing so good was terrible, I managed to dig a hole and I poured water in it, after 3 days the water finally started draining, that is how compacted it was, I seriously thought about a raised bed but I just had to try amending the ground and it worked, I am working on several new sections this year, I garden totally organic and have no bug problems, I use flowers for pest control, I so believe in saving our much needed bees and pollinators from extinction! We sure need them or we won't have many fruits or veggies to eat. Sorry I got a bit carried away, I really enjoy sharing about garde
