pumped the Holf Grail article, too. Good science has got to work.

good comment, I see too many especially in Florida--Maybe time for that fellow to slow down...and not drive?

I only pump friends and the three guys on the front page are my friends.

Hey good post about the colder less-populated states in the US using more energy. In fact, it makes so much sense that there's no point in my posting anything at all! Too bad most people won't read it, just do their usual mindless conditioned responses. Cheers!

Already have snow tires on winter rims, but thanks. All-seasons don't cut it around here. Not all cars handle the same, even with snow tires - for example, some have more responsive steering, others have a high profile which catches cross-winds. Anyway, I appreciate your sharing your experiences with the Prius. Thanks again! Safe travels; cheers.

Interesting. I will make a point of renting one for a couple of days, before considering buying. I do a lot of highway driving, so it would have to work well for that. How does it handle in snow?

Very helpful comments; thanks. I'll see if I can borrow or rent one first. I drive a Honda Fit so am used to small cars, and the mileage is certainly the biggest draw. All good to know; thanks again.

Thanks for your inspiring post. I've been thinking about a Prius for my next car (although hopefully the current one will hold out for a while yet). How do you like it overall?

You also asked, 5KW systems for $25-$30,000??? In what universe???? That would be the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Whose key findings found that a standard 5 kW residential system costs about $25,000-$30,000 http://www.residentialsolar101.org/comparing-residential-solar-install-costs-in-the-u-s-to-germany/

orphancarguyPE asks "I just don't know what drpeppertx is smoking these days. Maybe huffing 'coal rolling' pickup pipes??" ============================================================= Nope not a "coal roller" fan! My preferred smoke nowadays is Padrón 1964 45th Anniversary Series "A" Double Coronas, how about you orphancarguyPE?
