Already have snow tires on winter rims, but thanks. All-seasons don't cut it around here. Not all cars handle the same, even with snow tires - for example, some have more responsive steering, others have a high profile which catches cross-winds. Anyway, I appreciate your sharing your experiences with the Prius. Thanks again! Safe travels; cheers.

Interesting. I will make a point of renting one for a couple of days, before considering buying. I do a lot of highway driving, so it would have to work well for that. How does it handle in snow?

Very helpful comments; thanks. I'll see if I can borrow or rent one first. I drive a Honda Fit so am used to small cars, and the mileage is certainly the biggest draw. All good to know; thanks again.

Thanks for your inspiring post. I've been thinking about a Prius for my next car (although hopefully the current one will hold out for a while yet). How do you like it overall?

You also asked, 5KW systems for $25-$30,000??? In what universe???? That would be the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Whose key findings found that a standard 5 kW residential system costs about $25,000-$30,000 http://www.residentialsolar101.org/comparing-residential-solar-install-costs-in-the-u-s-to-germany/

orphancarguyPE asks "I just don't know what drpeppertx is smoking these days. Maybe huffing 'coal rolling' pickup pipes??" ============================================================= Nope not a "coal roller" fan! My preferred smoke nowadays is Padrón 1964 45th Anniversary Series "A" Double Coronas, how about you orphancarguyPE?

Question? Does PEI have any oil reserves? Has anyone thought of drilling there? I have Canadian friends that do not know the answer and they are now wondering if they should sell their farm.

"There is a very simple reason or two why prices are high..." Great post and most don't understand that or what I tell them as well.

"Where I live on Prince Edward Island, the government has..." I can agree with you on this one bud! Oh, and a late Happy Canada Day to you! To me, it's just like they could already have vehicles getting 70 to 150+ mpg from the factories, but they won't do it! They could do ethanol right, but they WON'T do it!

"You neglect to mention the fact that we have been paying and paying and paying, yet government has wasted that money on other crap instead of doing adequate repairs and maintenance." That's what drpepperTX wrote as a rebuttal to what you wrote. I have to concur as they have wasted plenty of our money in Washington and the states, filling their own pockets, that of the ultra-wealthy, foreign leaders, etc. We need jobs but we don't need the price of everything to go up more still which it's already done enough. I'm friggin' poor enough and have been homeless for far too damned long because of them all at the top and what they do. I curse them one and ALL! Don't make them richer still and everyone else worse off! More money thrown at a fire or at a problem doesn't fix it.
