In response to your post to me about the Poulan, if you had the disintegrated fuel lines, then yeah, it's the carb. The most likely culprit is going to be the jet. Each design is a little different, but the jet will usually be a tiny brass fitting that the fuel flows through...perfect place for debris to collect up and clog. Use a tiny wire to clear the hole. Once that's done, reassemble and it should start right up.
Just make sure you clear the primer bubble pump really well. Trash loves to hang out in those and reintroduce itself into the system. So just make sure it is clear of debris as well. If in doubt, you can buy replacement primer bubble buttons since they go bad as well.
