Just saw that your one of the lucky few with solar panels up there that knows that it works. Not everyone understands that, and yet at the same time not everyone can afford them. Personally, I wouldn't do a 20 year lease or payment myself. I'd add what I could here and there and do as I've done in the past. People say it doesn't work up north, and quite franky, they just don't know, don't understand and don't know what they're missing. I've seen it work in upper Canada and in Alaska, so if it'll work there, thought a bit less mind you, it'll work in Monteal, Detroit, Fargo, Chicago, Cleveland, etc., AND it does!

Salvage Yard, used two one in Lancaster the other in Marlboro. If you are talking about the Autozone by the McGrath HWY. Yuk. Wasn't a nice place 20 years ago when I lived in Somerville.

Use a shop in Framingham to get stuff I need. This is just a functional resto for now. The pretty stuff will come later.

I looked up nitinol and it’s fascinating with it’s memory to regain shape in the presence of heat. My mountain bike is a GT Avalanche 1.0 with an aluminum frame and it gets strength from an extra triangle below the seat and the shape of the tubes. It has a shock fork also but my touring bike a Kona Sutra that has a chromoly frame and it needs it because I put 70 pounds of gear on it. My aluminum rear rim cracked around the spoke holes because it was cheap and over tensioned so I just taught myself wheel building and am riding on my first set now. I’m using a deep V rim for strength and 2.3x2.0 mm stainless spokes with cartridge bearing hubs. My front hub is a dynamo that powers my lights and charges my phone by day along with some solar chargers of course. I had a 3 speed Monkey Wards bike when I was a kid and now the old planetary gear hubs are coming back. A company Rohloff makes one with 14 gears and a belt drive.

The last time I went into a pub was there in 1986, the year of the last visit of Halley's Comet which I couldn't go out and see because I broke my leg skiing. It was also a mistake because I didn't know it was a gay bar and when a guy tried to pick up on me I was a bit embarrassed because... long long story!!! My friend is a retired manufacturing engineer and he was telling me about the new mairageing steels that are lighter and stronger then chromoly. I was interested in titanium but he say's you have to make it so much bigger for strength that you lose the benefits.
