Jim.. it looks like the 3 year is the best break between length and rate... about twice the rate of current bank cd's.. they plan on using the panel leasing income to pay these notes, but the notes are NOT guaranteed by that income stream... just solarcity's ability or interest in paying them... how about annuities? Insurance company's are always barking about annuity returns... have any dealings with those?? I want to check into green initiative funds.. they would buy solar city bonds perhaps as a portfolio , and the risk would be a lot less.... of course.. you know solar city.. how they operate.. what type of issues they run into and how they approach them... the old saying is.. "invest in what you know".. yup .. dreary drippy clouds... but solar guys and gals will always find something to smile about!! joe

yes.. our clouds parted and we got a surprise.. later today not looking so good... waiting on showers now... (not solar power showers!!) I always thought a good mutual fund was the way to go.. average out the individual stock's fluctuations / highs and lows.. there are a few listed in the sierra magazine.. green stock funds that stick to sustainable ventures..

Let me know what you conclude.. but I think the safest bet here is... more solar panels!! Can't go wrong.

Jim... could it be that solarcity has made a profit in only one year... their fixed expenses: In 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013 and the six months ended June 30, 2014, fixed charges exceeded earnings by approximately $26.2 million, $38.6 million, $99.3 million, $80.6 million and $71.5 million, respectively.. making 2011 the only year so far they turned a profit?/ Could that be ? Must be using subsidies to keep going... joe

dude , Im there.....

by Joeski1  Oct 21, 2014

Ps; Ma is down from #1 to #2... Ny is #1 (this year).. sorry... I'd love 4% return.. I can't buy any more solar.. yet.. jersey is almost 17% ROI..

get me a link for those solar bonds.. I'm onboard for 10G! can I buy them direct or do I need a leech? Joe

I'll get this right!! Here it is.. hope all is well...

And I hope all is well solar buddy!! Jay sent me a panel site.. need to check it out... the tesla jim.. i really don't think is an 'ownership" experience unless you have the coin to buy it flat out cash... even if I got approved.. I'd probably trade it in in 3 years for the residual and buy another ... by then the miles per charge could be in the 500's... It's like the panels... yes they went down in cost by 50%.. but that took 4 years... 4 years my system has been returning in aces... that's a long time to wait.. for such a positive step forwards.. just like the tesla... I could wait 3 years.. the incentives will be gone... and the car may not be any cheaper in it's form.. yes maybe in a $35 K form... but not to compete with BMW's and high end mercedes... good night.. safe travels... and try to keep that high brow kat outta trouble... joe

Jimmy!! we snagged a cool 25 today.... hope you guys something.. lots of clouds still but hey 25 is better than 24 other numbers right? I am thankful I had the determination to still go for the solar pv even after the state totally back out of any incentives that my original dealer applied for during the estimate phase.. i was so red.. that I said "dam the torpedoes!1 Now NOTHING will stop me... Thank God I stuck to my guns.. I'll NEVER tire of posting $2.52 power bills.. though I'm sure the disillusioned here think I need fake them with photo shop perhaps? I bought new Christmas Lights.. LED's .. drill got me around to it.. I took my system from a 1600 watt draw... to about 225 watts +/-.. should be a real sight to behold.. looking forward to it... still hashing the tesla.. no test drive due to good weather!! I need bad... the worse the better!! I have no issues driving one of my hondas there.. the tesla shouldn't have any either right?? We'll see...
