Regarding Refinery maintenance. There are a number of problems for refineries to keep and store any decent amount of product. One is the space and cost of storage. They need to sell all of their product to make money to operate. 2nd: Is with gasoline containing ethanol there is a storage time frame and they cannot keep it stored. 3rd problem is demand and supply, if they were able to store the product they would most likely be charged with manipulating the price. If price went up and they had stored product you can just imagine the comments and charges that would be aimed at them. So when supply goes down when there is maintenance, and demand remains the same or increases then the price of fuel increases. That is why the refineries try to schedule maintenance during the winter when demand maybe less.

Hi Bill here glad you enjoyed your trip to Alberta. I is nice that you are my gas buddy. I had retired in 2012 and it is nice not to punch the clock anymore have a great day. Bill

Thanks for being my newest friend. I love to fish and we travel a lot. In 1967 I came through Edmonton on the way back from Cold Lake where my late wife's uncle was a flight instructor. We had our 4-month-old son with us.

Great information on power vehicles thanks for putting me straight on the BS mileage of electric cars. Have a great day and again thanks Bill

by LanguageMan1  Jun 17, 2014

"Sounds impressive but how much power did it cost to make all this mileage?" Don't fall for their BS or their "double-speak," distortion of the truth or LIES! The Volt, as much as I might like it, is a hybrid. It uses gas, and not all the miles driven are electric only. If you haven't gotten filled up yet, please do so before it goes up at the pump. We're JUST starting to go up here. I've warned about 500+ people since Friday, and most have gotten it just in time.

I would ask also did North America bail out funds end up there?

gasper, as with all other manufacturers GM has a presence in China. Actually, they are a huge market for GM. However, the cars and trucks being built there are for the Chinese market. GM builds most of their products for the U.S. in the U.S. In Lansing, Lordstown, Kansas City, Flint, Detroit, Tennessee, Texas, etc.
