I agree, there is a lot of difference between the skyraider and the piper, I got my thoughts mixed up between the two planes.

BTW Thank you for the invite to your club's website, I will definitely check it out.

The Douglas Skyraider was a two seat plane, right? There are kits to build a skyraider, maybe you could kitbash a P51 and a skyraider to make an Enforcer.

by Piper1099  Nov 23, 2014

The planes intended use was close air support/ground attack. It was originally developed by Cavalier Aircraft, They closed in 1971 and sold the Enforcer to Piper Aircraft for further development. It was originally equipped with a Rolls-Royce Dart 510 Turboprop engine. Piper refitted the plane with a Lycoming YT55-L9A Turboprop engine. It also had ceramic armor for the engine, airframe and pilot. I mistakenly told you it was used by the US air force, It was never flown in battle, in fact there were only two built. One was test flown for over 200 hours and the other one crashed off the coast of Florida in the late 70's. Sorry about the misinformation.

It is a Piper PA 48 Enforcer that was used by the US air force until the late 70's. You are right, it is basically a modified P 51 Mustang.

Are you making snowman??

Some neat stuff. I would love to hear the toy jug someday. After looking at the photos closer, the only thing that really gives away that they may be rc is that there are no visible rivets. Beautiful looking models!
