~ Mele Kalikimaka me ka Hau'oli Makahiki Hou ~

by AC-302  Dec 30, 2012

My diminutive friend, you said: "to $630 million per year in 1987. Funding continued after 1989 as the Mujahideen battled the forces of Mohammad Najibullah's PDPA during the Civil war in Afghanistan (1989–1992)." -I didn't realize that the funding was $630 M, but I did realize we did fund the Mujahadeen against the puppet regime set up by the FSU. OK.. what's the point?

And my diminutive friend, I think YOU'VE missed the point and the overall picture. The goal of AQ was stated as making a pan-Islamic caliphate from Atlantic to Pacific, from Morocco to Indonesia, and beyond! But the lifestyle of freedom of choice that America offers hurts that dream. And as we all ought to know, when you have religious theocracies, or equivalents (communism is a prime example), you have 1 party rule, and that party's ruling council will use their power to enrich themselves. Back in the FSU, and China, you had the top 1% who were party members who had all the real power and access to real wealth/privlege. This is what Bin Laden wanted. Now, at one time did we arm the Taliban? Sure. When they were fighting the FSU in Afghanistan. Did OBL get some of that weaponry? Possibly. I think in this day and age, they more than likely had Soviet weapons.

The truth is also that Bin Laden didn't like "American" and "Western" influences on the world's Muslim youth. He felt Islam was being "seduced" by American culture and America's freedoms. Heaven forbid that people actually had the freedom of choice to liberalize Islamic practice (as Christianity and Judaism have done over the last couple centuries).

Little guy, you said on A-1's whiteboard: "Bush claimed, "America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world." But the truth was revealed in the FBI’s statement to Congress and bin Laden’s own words: Opposition to U.S. military forces in the Persian gulf area, most notably Saudi Arabia, U.S. support of corrupt Middle Eastern countries, U.S. support for Israel’s brutal occupation and the ongoing assault on civilians in Iraq. " --IN part, it was true. Brutal occupation? Hmmm.. do you think it was more brutal or less than Saddam's reign of terror? And how do you think the Kurds felt? I think relieved. Ditto the S. Iraqi marsh Arabs that were also being gassed.

eldiablopoco, I want to thank you again for reminding me and all of us of the evil that was unleashed on America and the world on that dreadful day in 2001! I know that you meant it as yet another cheap attack on President Bush and America, but you have accomplished exactly the opposite of what you intended! THANK YOU! Here is another YouTube video for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6b913fsTcw Both videos ought to be REQUIRED viewing for every American to remind us how great America is and to make us long for decent leadership from the White House once again! THANK YOU, eldiablopoco!

eldiablopoco, I just watched that YouTube video once again and was deeply moved. If only we had leadership in the White House like that once again! And that clearness of vision and purpose and goodness! Thank you once again for reminding us eldiablopoco!

by AnotherOne  Dec 19, 2012

btw, THANK YOU eldiablopoco for the wonderful YouTube video that reminds us all of the outrageous evil that attacked America on 9/11. An evil that all too many times liberals have aided and abetted. But thank you for the reminder, eldiablopoco, what really happened on 9/11. I will ever be grateful to you for that reminder! GOD BLESS America!
