Hey Phil, read where you would like to ride "66". The problem with that, it is a hit and miss. Lots of it now is under the interstate and just abanded starting Western OK, NM and so on. It's still fun to some of it reflections of the 60's when you can find it.

I am starting my training rides... My wife thinks it would be great fun and hopes to SAG as well, but she also wants to bring our dog, which may limit lots of things! I remember the luggage trucks from BRAT twenty plus years ago... having Mrs handle my bags would be a godsend. I think we would join you, sleeping in the gyms or whatever at the schools. I lived in a NorthFace tent for six months the summer I rode halfway around the US with a few breaks inside when I didn't feel like putting a tent up in the rain (and we had loads of rain that summer!) How cool to have your grandaughter along! And, 5 BRAGs! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your son... hope you had a great time.

I'm just south of Nashville. I looked at brag.org and that may be a good possibility. I was going to work another five years, but the school district's administration started screwing with me, trying to force me out (I was old and making too much - administrators say :it's about the children", but in truth, it's all about money and saving their bloated salaries) so I hung it up this past June. When I told my wife about BRAG, she got excited and wants to come along, so this may work out...

67.5 isn't that old... I did the 150/day cross-country when I was 50... I'm 70 now and trying to find a window to ride to Alaska (I still teach summer school in a program for really smart kids from all around the world) when the weather might be favorable. Savannah to Sausalito would be a good ride, but the wind would be in your face all the way. If you start in early April you could make it across the desert before it got too hot, but I'd recommend west to east. The knee replacements are not so much a med problem as I just haven't put enough miles on them - don't want to embarrass myself when I come ride with you! ;)

Hey Phil- Lived in Atlanta for a few years, long ago and enjoyed wandering through NE GA... don't ride as much of late as I'd like, but have ridden once across the US (in 24 days @ 150/day!) and one time halfway around the US (Bellingham, WA to Portland, ME, a right hand turn, and on to Fort Meyers, FL) Perhaps when I get my knee replacements in shape, I'll take you up and come ride some new roads with you!
