Just as a reminder, here's your post....."they should just ask Bush and Cheney for money, since they gave it to all the other oil-related companies in TX and had all those companies in their back pockets during those dark days of that joke of a "presidency".".

You injected politics into the discussion by suggesting the fired oil-field workers go see Bush and Cheney to get some cash. I'm simply pointing out that much more money has been spent on gasoline during the Obama years than during the Bush years. It looks like Obama's policies are lining the pockets of "Big Oil" much more than Bush's policies did. As far as trading is concerned, oil futures have been traded since the mid-1800's. I would suggest you read Daniel Yergin's book "The Prize". It's an excellent history of both the good and bad of the oil business since the mid-1800's. It's heavy reading, but illuminating.
