I didn't say anything about tailgating. What I said was the majority of the tickets were for right-turn-on-red where drivers would coast through the turn and not do a complete stop when they didn't see any oncoming traffic. A policeman wouldn't issue a ticket - a camera does. The worst intersection for that was at a T-intersection into the hospital where there is virtually no one coming in from the left and averaged 450 citations per month.

Agreed, you're right about tailgating. The red light cameras seem to be used more to collect revenue than to actually increase safety on the road. There are other means to enforce traffic laws than red light cameras. Training people to drive safely & refreshing that regularly would be a good start.

thank you! I think those stopping for red light camera are being ramed by those not wanting to stop or following to close.or not paying attention .lets face it the camera's are intimidating some to stop short & ARE ILLEGAL. being removed in several states I hear.

Cities all across the nation are pulling the Red Light Cameras because they are not worth the time or money to enforce! Installation of the cameras cause an explosion of traffic court cases!

by SK08  Yesterday

Gee thanks, I would have never known that following too close or not paying attention can cause a rear enders. The point is some drivers are so afraid of red light cameras that they are slamming on their brakes on yellows when they should continue through creating a hazard for other drivers.

Agreed, stupid drivers who follow too close or don't pay attention are the cause of most collisions. However, I have not spoken out against red light cameras for a very loooong time. Merry Christmas

You got the wrong guy. I didn't say the red light cameras cause red end collisions. All I said was get rid of them.
