I know what you mean in your response. Just your response/comment was correct. Hard to see how to differ from what you wrote.

Can you explain CampKohler's response, the one that followed your (very accurate) comment? http://www.jacksonvillegasprices.com/Forum_MSG.aspx?master=1&category=1237&topic=568957&page_no=1&FAV=N I can't see how he thinks it's a good idea.

I am just NOT in favor of pushing the price of gas up or energy or what not in order to do it. People need to be educate better and to realize and see and understand it's potential AND it's savings. Plus, people need to understand what THEY can do AND TO DO IT! Enough with the talk, it's time for action. It's like me when I decide to improve the fuel economy of a vehicle. I DO it!

There ARE some things though that Chu and others have said that IS true though, and yet only partially. We DO need to move forward with alternatives AND to use less in the way of fossil fuels because they WILL run out one day. Not only that, it does harm the environment and our lives and health and children, friends, family, etc. Chu once said that once "...Democrats and Republicans finally concur and decide to move forward together, then it's up to the engineers..." to find the way. I'm sorry, that's only partially true as engineers generally make it more difficult than easy and politicians do as well, but once we do agree more with one another, we'll move forward more. I've been waiting on it since I was a kid, and it's not happened like they said they would and they never do enough or do it so as to save the money or make it easier for that matter, and yet, it works.

You and ExplorerWA ought to know that with Obama in there, and everyone should realize this, that everyone "...will pay more for electricity and energy...that the price would skyrocket..." just like he said. It's not nearly over doing so yet. We're all going to pay much more yet for EVERYTHING. The energy policy in place is a policy to drive up costs further, as well as to reduce carbon emissions, and it's going to do all that and more.

Your last chance.

(continued).. I got a little worried about them over so many recalls in the past couple years, but I suppose anyone car have that. My wife has a 2006 Jeep Liberty we bought in 2006 (program car also) that just got some rear bumper recall “gizmo“. Things like that …big deal, who cares. Not going to blow up or leave you stranded. The stories we all heard about a couple of years ago with the Toyota gaining speed on the highways. When all that came out I told my wife what’s wrong with these people. Put the car in neutral and turn off the key. No power steering but so what. Until the 1960’s very few cars had power steering and were bigger and heavier then. Better than crashing into a semi. Again…Thanks for your help my friend.

Reading the story about your dad's friends I was thinking the same thing you may have concluded. A lot of people trade cars before 100K miles (not me). Any car should last that long. So yes, I would assume they trade off before problems occur. I’m a real estate appraiser and put a bunch of miles on my car. Sometimes driving on pretty rough roads. I sure don’t need something breaking down on me all the time. Since I keep my car about 10 years and put between 17-20K a year on my car I like something dependable and fairly easy on gas. I don’t want of those half car looking death traps though (such as Smart Car). The car may be “smart” but the poor sucker driving may not be so bright, in my humble opinion. I would rather give my money to the gas station than to the hospital (or funeral parlor). Anyway I do thank you for your help. From what you telling me I may look at the local Toyota dealer and see what they have. They have 2013 on clearance. Maybe they have program cars too. I got a lit
