Regarding GM "junk from a few years ago", the GM Renaissance began with the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky back in 2001. With each subsequent launch, culminating with the 2014 Impala and 2014 Silverado, GM has launched vehicles that were superior to what they were replacing and competitive with the rest of the industry. Ford has done the same, and that is why you are now seeing the D3 market share slowly increasing against the J3 for three years running, instead of the opposite for 4 decades. Now, they have to keep the momentum going forward.
