I couldn't 'get' the large Prius...but the first time I drove the small Prius C and watched the fuel economy screen, I 'got it' within two km. I could likely get how to drive the large Prius now. Like our Subaru Forester with CVT, there are little tricks that come with experience and watching both car's feedback screens, and that doesn't mean you have to dawdle along at 30kph either, or accelerate like you have a ship's anchor on a rope

I have driven the Prius C on one long trip PEI to Ottawa, and it returned decent mileage of the 4.4/70+ mpg range at 110-115. Does even better driving under 90-100 kph. Either you 'get' the Prius, and like it, or you'll hate it. Its hyper dependable like all Toyotas I've had but tinny--at least the Yaris based 'C' is-- in feel. It has the lamest clunky GPS; my 6 year old Garmin is easier and better, but it has anice AC stereo, CD radio and satellite radio . My VWs are a world apart--super solid quiet authoritative on the road but maybe not as dependable and cheap to run. The C is definitely a small car but it is the cheapest hybrid out there.

Thanks for becoming my newest buddy. Hope that you are having a great summer week up there. We started getting our summer rains on July 3rd so it is cooler and things are greening up and blooming again. Warren

Hi FranklinON, I have noticed good comments you have made here and there over the past several months. Would you like to become bi-national buddies?? Warren

You raise an interesting pont and set of questions. I think it is correct that there is an element of human nature that requires leaders and followers. It certainly seems that as a leader ascends, s/he becomes more interested in expanding the power base, and that often requires "force" of one kind or another, hence the many unnecessary wars. In humans' most primative time, the stronger "warrior" type ruled the weaker, and we have really not escaped that paradigm. Had a very interesting chat with a corporate lawyer this morning as we walked our dogs - the nature of humans played a key role in our talk

The USA may not have a monopoly on the "World is USA-Centric" concept, but they have staggered into more unnecessary wars than any other nation. We could have totally avoided Viet Nam if Woodrow Wilson had used diplomacy to have the French leave (in 1919 Ho Chi Mihn asked Wilson for such help - Wilson's refusal cost us 56,000 lives and untold mess at home)

Thanks for the feedback... From our earliest "history", the people of the US have thought solely of themselves to the exclusion of the rest of the world, somehow managing to "balance" the contradictory concept of "Global Policemen" I think we need to open our minds and consider the global consequences of short-term (isolationist) thinking

Thanks for accepting my buddy request! And yes, I absolutely agree! It's great to see grass roots pro-active innovation. : )
