Fuel pumps on today's' vehicles are located inside the tank. They operate at higher speeds and higher pressures. The fuel cools the pumps. Usually at 1/4 tank, they start getting hotter, causing premature wear.. Fill up your tank BEFORE the idiot light comes on.
