I saw your post about gas pump accuracy and I found this link for the Seattle program. The Washington Dept of Weights and Measures makes sure every business has accurate scales and measuring devices.

Fuel pumps on today's' vehicles are located inside the tank. They operate at higher speeds and higher pressures. The fuel cools the pumps. Usually at 1/4 tank, they start getting hotter, causing premature wear.. Fill up your tank BEFORE the idiot light comes on.
