My Sympathies To You Californians - You Get What You Deserve!

When you elect idiot progressive/liberals to office time after time after time, do not be surprised when they do this to you every time.

Next year you are due to have MASSIVE increases in your gasoline prices. You already have the highest in the country because of progressive/liberal looniness. And just because someone is a RINO, that does not mean that they are not mindless progressive/liberals.

But you ain't seen nothin' yet!

Some Democrats are running away from the law that will hit you next year trying to delay it until after this fall's elections.

But that changes nothing.

Enjoy you high and going higher gas prices.

You deserve them!

;-)

California Pols Have Legislated a Big Gasoline Increase

"With the confidence busting effect of watching the price gauge at the gas pump, elected officials prefer avoiding gas prices as an election year issue. Adding to the anxiety is how little control any one elected official has over gas prices.

But this election year, California's state leaders are engaged in a gas price debate that is entirely their own doing.

96 percent of California's transportation relies on petroleum"

Start planning now so you know which days you are going without food in order to put gas in your car.

Jerry Brown, once again, proves what a stupid idiot he really is. $10 Billion to break ground for a train to nowhere. Fresno to Bakersfield? They've already spent about a Billion and a half bucks, and acquired about 30 parcels of land. Of those, only about 6 are contiguous. They were not able to secure a 50 foot "bump out" of the right of way of the existing trackage - which would have been more logical.

Air travel and car travel are too cheap. This train is already "off the rails." I wish Jerry Brown would understand that. If he wanted to improve his legacy, better that we spend that money on desalinization plants. That would secure his future place, far better than the "crazy train", for which they have no budget.

Brown Calls Critics of High-Speed Rail Cowards
.
.
>>>At a symbolic event designed to extol the merits of his exorbitant $68 billion bullet train that would run from San Francisco to Los Angeles, California Governor Jerry Brown stood in a vacant lot in Fresno and excoriated his critics as cowards, calling them “pusillanimous.”
\
.
.
The new Republican Congress may stand squarely in the way of Brown’s plans. The Times reported that House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who hails from Bakersfield, said, “Sadly, today’s groundbreaking is a political maneuver. Supporters of the railroad in Sacramento can’t admit their project is deeply flawed, and they won’t give up on it despite the cost. But these political tricks are exactly what the American people are tired of and what the new Republican Congress is committed to ending.”

But in Fresno, Brown argued, “I wasn’t quite sure where the hell we were going to get the rest of the money. But don’t worry about it. We are going to get it. We’ve overcome a lot of obstacles.” He added, “High-speed rail will take us from the past to the future, from the south to Fresno and north. It is truly a California project bringing us together today.”
.
.
The Times interviewed Lisa Schweitzer, an associate professor at the Sol Price School of Public Policy at the University of Southern California, who cynically noted, “There’s definitely a commitment trap component to this–that if they get shovels in the ground, no one is going to back up from a partially completed project. Then if you run out of money, you just start asking for more money. And you get all the pictures of the silver shovels in the ground, and the guys on construction crews saying how they had been out of work and this is a great job.”

Jim Patterson, the former mayor of Fresno, was among those excluded from the invitation-only event, and blasted, “We all support progress. What we don’t support is financial foolishness and government deceit. That’s what we have here. This is a sham event. They don’t have the money to build this…but this is what a one-party dictatorial government can do.”

KCRA Sacramento reports that the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s Ridership and Revenue Forecast projected that a ticket for the full ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles would cost $80 to $90. KCRA noted, “Estimates put the rail fare from Sacramento to the San Joaquin Valley at $54 to $78. A driver could do the trip on a few gallons of gasoline for much less.”<<<
.
.
.
.
I sincerely hope that the rest of the US doesn't get hoodwinked into bailing them out in any way shape or fashion. I hope the liberals on the loony left coast have to pay for the entire boondoggle themselves - but how they are already so far in debt they don't see how they can ever dig their way out....

Eat your heart out, California.

The Twin Cities AVERAGE gas price is now down below $2.00!

As is the average price for the entire State of Minnesota!

Lowest in the Twin Cities is $1.76.

Use that glowbull warming tax stuff to build things that only liberals folks want.
.
.
>>>Tuesday groundbreaking will begin in Fresno for Governor Jerry Brown’s mass transportation project known as the ‘”bullet train.”

The high speed rail (HSR) project connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles, is projected to cost $68 billion, not including cost overruns, which some predict could tack on $billions more.

Run-ups in cost would not come as a surprise to Californians, who witnessed the construction of the Bay Bridge project in Northern California, that ended up costing 600% of original projections. UC Berkeley civil engineering professor William Ibbs contends that megaprojects average 400% of initial cost estimates. Although he won’t give an exact figure on what it will cost to build the HSP, he is sure that it will exceed initial estimates.

Even Jerry Brown’s Democratic party colleague, state Sen. Mark DeSaulnier, doesn’t have a lot of faith in the $68 billion estimate. “I don’t know how anyone could trust their numbers,” he admits.

Holding true to his liberal roots, Brown begins the construction of his legacy project without the necessary funds to complete it. Although in 2008, California voters approved nearly $10 billion in bonds to initiate the funding, there is no good evidence that the remaining funds will be there to see the project through.<<<.

oilpan: "But when it comes to using that money to fix global warming, they don't have any plan, just put that money in the coffers and feed it into failed or failing social programs. "

Excellent point! California is indeed showing the true purpose of the globull warming scam. It has nothing to do with saving the planet and everything to do with lining the pockets of government and those in charge of government. You can bet that the government workers unions and teachers union bosses are just salivating at the thought of getting their hands on some of that money for their corrupt pension funds.

Gas is not the only thing going up in California. The new carbon tax will also hit rice farmers. They are going to tax farmers for the production of rice because of the methane release during the growing process. This will result in lower production, higher production cost and a poorer quality product. It will also affect migratory birds that feed on the rice as they fly south. This is in addition to the new chicken coup rules that just went into effect.

Can we give California back to Mexico?

When you see the crap they pass as law, it makes me question their sanity and common sense, in addition to questioning their grasp of basic finances and basic reality. They're already chasing companies with good jobs out of state. Aerospace and high tech are moving out of LaLa land. Won't be so easy to move out of Silicon Valley, but I look for that, too, in the next 50 years or so.

You are right.

YOU do not deserve this.

But until progressive liberals are rooted out, they will continue to do damage like this to you and other good people.

What is the saying? 'The rain falls on the just and the unjust.'

Unfortunately in this case, it is the 'unjust' that are 'reigning' taxes down on the 'just'.

I am so sorry that you have to put up with this liberal nonsense, AC.

It looks like gasoline is not the only commodity California has regulated into higher prices. Unfortunately, California is not the only state the new California based law will affect. The new law that protects chickens will cause the price of all chicken products to go up. I hope someone will get smart and not comply. All they have to do is list that their chickens and eggs are not for sale in California, then they should be able to sell as much as they can produce, at a much lower price.

Before anyone asks, no I don't care about the comfort of chickens. I care about putting food on the table at the best price I can.

You got no one to blame but yourselves, Californians!

While everyone else's gas prices are going DOWN, yours will go UP on Thursday.

All because of your liberal stupidity electing people who want to RAISE your gas prices to 'save the planet'!

ROTFL

Don't expect us to feel sorry for you. You reap what you sow.

I think I will go drive 100 miles to no where just to put some CO2 in the air in honor of you.

;-)

Once again, this is part of the liberal "WAR ON THE POOR"!

California gas prices going up in 2015

"After months of seeing gas prices sink ever lower, Californians will ring in 2015 by paying more at the pump as a result of the state's landmark greenhouse-gas emissions law.

Opposition groups backed by the oil industry have claimed prices will rise 16 to 76 cents per gallon, although that's admittedly based on an underlying price of about $4 per gallon

Some Democrats want to delay the program; most Republicans want to stop it. But there is little prospect of either happening, given the Brown administration's strong support of the program enshrined in an eight-year-old law.

"It's going to hurt the poorest people in the state. ... Gasoline is not a luxury, it's essential for folks"

Once again, liberals know better than you what you should do with your money and how you should spend it.

You should be "happy" to give liberals MORE money for THEIR cockamamie global warming schemes.

And they are willing to talk openly about what they want to do to you in California and how they plan to RAISE your gas prices even though you are already the highest in the country and other parts of the country are UNDER $2 per gallon!

You deserve what you get when you vote for mindless and possibly evil liberals!

Why you should love paying 10 cents more per gallon

"Under California's cap-and-trade program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, after Jan. 1, wholesale gasoline distributors (mostly refiners) are going to be responsible for the emissions from their fuel. They will have to buy, and eventually turn over to the California Air Resources Board, one emissions allowance for every metric ton of greenhouse gases you emit when you burn the gasoline or diesel they sold you."

Gas Prices Hit Record Lows Across Los Angeles But Could Soar In New Year

"Gas spectators are warning that such joy may be short lived however, with impending Cap-and-Trade carbon credits expecting to hit consumers come Jan. 1."

Liberals love to take YOUR money!

This insanity didn't just start lately in California.

The old saying that the country tilted to the left and all the fruits and nuts rolled out to California appears to be true.

;-)

"In San Jose and Sunnyvale it is illegal for grocery stores to provide plastic bags."

"The ordinance (Refer to Chapter 9.10, Part 13) began on January 1, 2012, with the following provisions:

Grocery stores, pharmacies, small and large retailers can no longer provide plastic carryout bags at checkout.

Stores may still provide paper bags made of 40% post-consumer recycled material and charge a minimum of 10 cents for each bag. After the initial two years, the store charge will increase to a minimum of 25 cents for paper bags. The charge will be retained by the store.

Customers purchasing food with WIC and CalFresh “food stamps” may be provided a recycled content paper bag at no cost for the first two years of the ban."

You Californians will maybe learn one day NOT to vote for nanny progressive liberals.

First they didn't want you to use paper bags because it huwt the pow widdle twees!

Then they didn't want you to use plastic because they were made from evil petroleum.

So individual cities voted against those evil plastic bags.

Now, California has BANNED plastic bags statewide!

And you Californians are supposed to use CLOTH bags.

ROTFL

Live with your insanity, as long as you vote progressive liberals into any position of power.

Pretty soon they will probably ban your cloth bags because they will be so filthy that they are spreading disease!

ROTFL

And you know you can't WASH them because you have NO WATER!

I would say that many of our politicians are "goofballs". Good word.

What I don't understand is why our electorate thinks that somehow they can get something for nothing? And how can we provide services and more services, creating a dependent underclass, without having more and more taxes? Eventually people don't want to be taxed anymore. Businesses have been leaving the state in droves, taking jobs away. Why our politicians cannot see it, or do not care, I do not understand? Our electorate, nor our politicians seem to understand is that you can and should only spend what you have. The financial dimension escapes them.

About, oh, 3 years ago, I went on a vacation with the soon to be ex and the kids to NoCal. We stopped in Sacramento and took the Capital tour. It was nice. During the tour, the guide mentioned that 85% of the General Assembly were Dems, with 15% as "other", mostly Reps. I have heard our fool governor mention "Republican Obstructionism." I don't see how, when the legislators are basically all Dems?

Exactly!

And that is why I asked BuzzLOL if he was " sure you want to stick with your claim that gas prices were "$4.50 - $5 Summer 2008, EvilBushJr.'s last Summer in office...""

And why I told he to 'be careful' how he answers.

But did you notice that he did not answer?

He realized that he had been caught in Another One of his liberal LIES and his Bush hatred and Obama Bromance!

And you are right, johnnyg, gas prices hit a higher level under Obama than under Bush. AND have STAYED high.

Why would anyone make up gas prices on GasBuddy? Its just to easy to check out. It looks like gas prices spiked May through August 2008 in Toledo at about 4.15 or 4.14 and dropped back to about 1.52 in October and November 2008, Prices not seen again. The price has been steadily climbing since the end of 2008. Then in 2011 prices spiked again around April 2011 at about 4.16 in Toledo and has fluctuating around the 3.50 range ever since. Never did it hit 4.50 much less 5.00.

Remember Obama wants higher gas prices so people will use mass transit. He just wanted a slow increase so people can adapt more smoothly. He wants us to be more like Europe where people cant afford to drive.

BuzzLOL, ". I live in an extreme liberal city... gas is $3.14 here today... was $4.50 - $5 Summer 2008, EvilBushJr.'s last Summer in office..."

What was the price the day Bush left office and Obama took over?

Hmmmmmmmm?

btw, are you sure you want to stick with your claim that gas prices were "$4.50 - $5 Summer 2008, EvilBushJr.'s last Summer in office..."

Careful how you answer, Buzzer.

But PLEASE do answer.

Actually, highest gas prices in the country are in Hawaii... except for one bizarre station in Florida...

This is nothing, as the populace begins to feel the pain at the pump, and their dollar reach gets shorter, they'll blame it on rich people not paying their fair share and the minimum wage. Of course the truth is that their government continues to spend like a drunken sailor and no accountability, and they create the very problems they try to solve! I avoid California like the plague, between the freeway traffic, the smog, and especially the cost of everything. Nobody should have to finance their fuel just because the state is financially incompetent with the taxpayer's money.

The first ones to feel the lack of water, teacher tim, should be beverly Hills and Hollywood and Bel Air.

No watering lawns.

No watering gardens.

No water in your huge pools.

Then let's see the limousine liberals squeal like stuck pigs.

Also ration the electricity for their huge energy guzzling mansions.

Hmmm, all those years of fighting any kind of water supply dam certainly made California a better state for droughts. Is this gas tax their way of justifying the bullet train to nowhere? On the bright side, it WOULD go through all that parched farmland VERY quickly!

Waiting for the howl when it is forbidden to fill swimming pools and to water golf courses.

And don't come to Minnesota either.

We got enough problems with liberals like Al Franken and Mark "Silver Spoon Target" Dayton and all the other wacko libs and communists in this state.

AKA Moscow on the Mississippi!

I don't have one ounce of sympathy for the people of California. They elect the people who pass these laws. If they don't like the law elect new people or move out. Just don't move to Missouri and expect us to pass the same insane laws that drove you out of the asylum.
