False Balance Fallacy

The Fallacy of Respecting Opinions

"It’s the easiest way to end an argument as it nears the bend of head-spinning tautology: “I respect your opinion, and everyone’s certainly entitled to their own opinion…”

Except that they’re not – opinions rooted in fallacies are not entitled to be entertained as valid and they certainly shouldn’t be respected.

Professing a certain belief doesn’t entitle you to the same amount of platforming. Opinions based on emotional quotients are feckless against opinions grounded in researched facts and intellectual quotients. You may well say that the Earth is flat but science contradicts that; therefore your opinion is invalid. You may believe that President Obama is a Muslim Marxist Kenyan, against all facts to the contrary, but that does not entitle your opinion to be given equal gravitas in a debate, or public forum, against people who are armed with a command of basic logic, cognitive thinking skills, and facts."

.
. The proper term is we TOLERATE all opinions... it would be stupid to respect opinions that are obviously wrong... that's why I and the Gov't both have NO "respect" for religion addiction/psychosis mental illness... we tolerate it but will be glad when it's all gone... along with the religion-fueled wars and religion created religious terrorists, etc., etc., etc...

. BTW, Chick-fil-A gave me free food... and it was tolerable... but I've never bought anything there... I tolerate them and their beliefs...

We saw how the "gay" boycott of Chick=Fil-A went, didn't we?

I went down to the local Chick-Fil-A that day, had to wait in line 20 minutes.

It was worth it...

Well D@MN Troller! That could kill the whole forum!

Of course, one man's facts [or woman's] is another's anethema.

Ask me why I got spammed by 1200 PETA A-holes for having a Turtle Derby and Frog-Jumping contest on the 4th of July. Talk about people devoid of rational thought! Google PETA sea kittens and you'll see what I mean.

"Everyone Is Entitled To Their Own Opinion"

Not in liberal America. Just look at what happened to the owner of Chick-Fil-A when he answered a question and gave his opinion. He was threatened whit being blocked access to open stores in a coupled of major cities by Democrat politicians and threatened with boycotts just because he has an opinion that didn't fit the liberal ideology.
