The sorry part is that some jury or judge will believe it! BTW, the activist standing out there had nothing to do with race but I guess we will go with it...LOL.

Of course the comments by one of the other faculty at the school is an even more depressing sentiment on how we can use racism to our advantage to defend stupid actions:

"Some of the letters were written on UCSB letterhead, presumably on university equipment and university time. Among them is one from history professor Paul Spikard, who states that his colleague is the object of “an energetic smear campaign that seems to have little to do with her person or her actions, and a great deal to do with fomenting racial hatred and rallying right-wing political sentiment.” "

For a professor this guy is not too smart! Hey Paul, the only people even bringing up race in this is you and the defendant.

AFSNCO: "Assaulting someone is a positive example?"

Only if you're involved in a peaceful protest.

“If she appears smiling on camera,” Prof. Boris continues, “she is ‘wearing the mask,’ that is, she is hiding her actual state through a strategy of self-presentation that is a cultural legacy of slavery.”

That is, quite frankly, the stupidest thing I've read on the internet in several years.

What "cultural legacy" of slavery?

Seriously, total tripe.

One of the things that really ticks me off about this is this detracts from real cases of racism.

Didn't this professor say something to the affect of doing this to show a positive example to her students? Assaulting someone is a positive example?

flyboy: "Look ---- slavery ended in the US almost 150 years ago. At what point will people stop using that as an excuse for doing dumb things adn unacceptable antisocial behavior?"

Nobody alive today in this country has ever been a slave and nobody alive today has ever owned a slave (I say "in this country" because Muslim extremist groups like Boko Haram have in fact taken female slaves in Africa, and one could make the case that women in some Muslim countries are in fact slaves to their husbands).

She should be fired. You know that if a conservative white male professor (are there anymore of those btw?) did the same thing to a student handing out Marxist literature, he would be fired on the spot. No doubt about it.

Seventy years back some of my relatives were involved in trying to eliminate other of my relatives. So somehow that give me an excuse today to do stupid things???? I dont think so!!!!! I am responsible for what I do today!!!!! I cannot blame what other people did who are long gone.

The excuse of someone did something unkind or whatever to my great great grandparents is not going to be accepted any more PERIOD!!!!

sgm4law, " He describes the smile on her face as being the legacy of slavery, not her actions with the poster and the prolifer."

WOW!

The depths to which progressive liberals will stoop to defend one of their own violent fellow racists. When there is NO defense for their actions.

This part got me too:

"“It would be tragic if Dr. Miller-Young were sentenced to jail time or mandatory anger management classes based on the press’ portrayal of her as an Angry Black Woman.” "

Huh, I have not seen that in any of the reports on this story. The only people injecting her being black are her supporters. Now the pregnancy part I can see...raging hormones in a pregnant woman can make them act a bit weird. But innocent by way of being black? That is new on me...

I really dont give a flying fig for excuses. She assaulted that young lady, caused physical injury and destroyed private property after she stole it. While doing these things she also attempted to deprive another person of their rights to free speech.

As an employee of the school she is supposed to be held to a high standard of conduct. She seems to have not acted as a college professor type should act. I dont understand the value of what it is she supposedly teaches anyway but that is a different subject.

My point is she broke numerous laws. She knew at the time she was breaking the law. The fact that she was pregnant is not excuse for breaking the law. She should receive the maximum penalty because of her position and the fact she did what she did.

Kinda reminds me of a cop caught selling drugs.

<<Supporters of Mireille Miller-Young cite the "cultural legacy of slavery" and even the effects of pregnancy to explain why the feminist studies professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara would accost a teenager spreading a pro-life message on campus.>>

This is a misdescription of the letter. He describes the smile on her face as being the legacy of slavery, not her actions with the poster and the prolifer.

“If she appears smiling on camera,” Prof. Boris continues, “she is ‘wearing the mask,’ that is, she is hiding her actual state through a strategy of self-presentation that is a cultural legacy of slavery.”
