Ted Nugent, while campaigning for the Republican Texas Governor candidate called President Obama a "subhuman mongrel" among other negative comments. He later apologized to other Republicans if what he said, would hurt them, (but specifically) not to the president who he obviously detests and thinks of less than human (whether because of his policies or his race isn't clear).

Was Nugent just being honest and saying what others on the Right were thinking? Should he be congratulated on his honesty for saying what many in the Tea Party think, but won't outright say?

What do you think about Nugent's refreshing? honesty?

"I wonder what its like to go to the lookout on Mulholland Dr. and be able to see 50 miles without smog."

I can. This is not the 1960's.

"I wonder what its like not to worry about a flash flood?"

I don't.

"I wonder what its like not to worry about landslides and if my house will slide down into the canyon?"

I am not foolish enough to live in a canyon prone to flooding.

"I wonder what its like to pay $20 every 3 months for endless high quality water from my faucet? NOT! Or to water my grass just because it pleases me? NOT!"

Cool. Waste YOUR area's fresh water supply.

"I wonder what its like to drive around town any time of the day and not encounter inexplicable traffic jams/ blocked freeways."

I wonder as well. I live 5 minutes from work.

I wonder what it is like to have a year without snow to clear! Last time I remember that little snow I was a 16 year old in Germany and had no licence yet.

Where were you liberals when the "Bush is an idiot" and "Bush is Stupid" talk was going on? You are decrying insults against the current, sitting, DEMOCRAT president, and that is fine. But all this talk of civility went out the window when there was a Republican sitting in the "big chair". What I see is HUGE hypocrisy coming from the left.

Now, is Nugent nuts? Sure. Do I support his rhetoric? No. Is he doing it for entertainment purposes and to make himself and his POV prominent? Certainly so. Tell me how this is much different then when Rosie O'Dumbdumb makes stupid statements against Republicans? Please, elaborate on that for me.

rumbleseat - Rather than get in silly arguments about calling it a snow shovel or a snow scoop most of us are smart enough to have moved the heck out of such a place.

I use a blower to remove the grass clippings from our driveway and patio. Dont need none o them silly snow thingys.......The big question in this household is - should I mow the lawn today or wait one more day......

"You are the one calling it a scoop. What you are describing is a snow plow. Why on earth call it a scoop?"

Everybody that uses them to move snow on driveways or skating rinks calls them scoops
Enough of this ignorant ranting.
It is a snow scoop, it is sold as a snow scoop, it is used as a snow scoop, I showed pictures of a snow scoop, yet you persist in you ignorant and insulting attempts to make me look stupid.
If you want to clear driveways with a shovel, go right ahead, I learned 20 years ago that the only logical replacement for a snowblower on a large driveway after a major snowfall is a scoop. You can place a scoop of snow anywhere in your yard you feel like, you aren't limited to how far you can throw it with a shovel. In my case, I can haul some of it across the street if I want.
For goodness sake, grow up!

Or better yet, fly up here after our next snowfall, and show how much faster you can clear my driveway with a shovel than the 18 year old girl can do with our scoop.
Show us how easy it is for you to move that snow when the street plow has already built up a pile of snow over 6 feet high on one side of the driveway, eliminating the easiest place to toss snow with a little shovel!
Where I am situated on the bay, I have one of the 2 longest driveways, and the only people that get cleared in shorter times now are those with snowblowers.

QUOTE ::::Seriously, did you even think for a moment before making a statement about people lifting these full of snow? :::::

You are the one calling it a scoop. What you are describing is a snow plow. Why on earth call it a scoop? A scoop is a utensil inherently made for lifting a volume. Typically found in the kitchen for 'scooping' flour, coffee, sugar, etc.

Btw, after you have ,err, scooped one scoop length of snow, where does it go? A plow pushes the snow off to the side. With your 'scoop' you have not cleared the snow. YOu have just redeposited it. Does it flow over the sides or over the back?

Your scoop is an ill conceived tool at best. I suppose if you hooked a draft horse up to it, it would work. It is doomed to bog down in heavy snow or wet snow. I can't think of a more backbreaking way to clear snow. A useless tool. I wouldn't bother with one.

Plus if you have some frozen spots underneath, you still have to go find a shovel. Your so called scoop is useless for chopping. A silly tool for Yuppies to clutter their garage with. Also useless for clearing out a snowbound car in a tight driveway or for clearing steps, raised flagstone paths, or tight paths hemmed in by shrubs. Equally useless when city snowplows pile iced over piles of rock hard frozen snow at the end of your driveway.

With my nimble coal shovel I can work like the energizer bunny. I motor right along like a buzz saw, clearing a driveway in 15 minutes without breaking a sweat.

"Trying to pickup huge volumes of snow like that is insanity.\"

Seriously, isn't it time to stop making stupid statements in attempting to make me look like an idiot?
Anybody with more than one brain cell looks at a scoop and knows instinctively it is not made with a handle for lifting, but for pushing into snow, and dragging.
My wife looked at your statement and burst into laughter.
Our scoops are heavy duty plastic compound, have lasted 20 years so far, they are light when empty, kids and seniors can use them safely, and the only time we lift them is to take them out of the porch, and to put them away.
Of course it is insanity to think of lifting one full of snow!! Yet you thought of it, didn't you?

Seriously, did you even think for a moment before making a statement about people lifting these full of snow?
Please tell me how anybody smaller than Andre The Giant would attempt it, and that only on a dare?

One of the most dangerous pieces of advice on snowclearing I've ever heard. The tool which you insist on calling a 'scoop' ought to be called a 'widow maker'. Trying to pickup huge volumes of snow like that is insanity.

I'm a fit guy but I'd never knock myself out trying to shovel using a , err, scoop. A shovel, in particular what's called a coal shovel is ideally suited to shovel large amounts of snow.

"rumbleseat, thank you for posting Ted Nugent's Facebook post. Most of us don't waste our time with Facebook and so we have not seen the full quote"

I never said it was his Facebook post.
2 seconds and you could have verified that.
I guess you didn't notice the SPACE I inserted between my comments on his Facebook supporters and the quote.
I commented on the people posting on his Facebook page saying he should run for President, and the surprising number of veterans who actually served instead of turning their clothes into walking toilets who fall over themselves complimenting him.

It was LIVE interview with guns.com where the semi-fossilized pants-pooping child-bride-marrying bigot made the statements.
For good reason Greg Abbott is not going to be using Nugent in any more live campaigning after that. But even that decision wasn't made right away. Before dropping him as a live campaigner, an Abbott aide told CNN about the controversy, “We are not endorsing Ted Nugent, he is supporting us”, and I commented before that was pretty unintelligent.

"Passer, so now you are going to try to get out of your racist statement by arguing about a "question mark" vs a "period"."

So, A1, you, being the average Extreme Conservative here, do not understand the "petty" difference between:

"Are you a racist?"

and

"You are a racist."

because of the "unimportant" difference between a "?" and a "."?

I get it:
arguing about a "petty" question mark is absolutely meaningless when you wish to twist someone else's words is what you are currently trying to get away with?

That will work it seems with Conservative radicals, but I'm not sure even your intelligent Conservatives will let you get away with that. They have principles even if yours tend to be of a "looser" variety. (The Tea Party has made Republicans National "loosers" for a long time now <G>)

But your status does deserved to be renewed in the Chubby Checker Word Twisting Hall of Fame (of which you are a Charter Member) for that one.

As I have said over and over, liberals are among the few TRUE racists still around!

rumbleseat, thank you for posting Ted Nugent's Facebook post. Most of us don't waste our time with Facebook and so we have not seen the full quote. Thanks.

Having said that, I agree with EVERYTHING Nugent said EXCEPT the "subhuman mongrel" part of his quote.

So, thank you rumbleseat, for showing everyone the truth and common sense Nugent spoke.

Passer, so now you are going to try to get out of your racist statement by arguing about a "question mark" vs a "period".

I did not "call conservatives 'racists'".

You conveniently ignored the question mark at the end of my questions, A1 (a chip on the shoulder can reflect so much light that it can be blinding).

You see, there is a difference between a period and a question mark.

But I did give them a chance to let others judge where they were coming from, by HOW they answered my questions. Most people don't think that they are racists.

But if you give someone enough rope...

So to NOT ALL but just to many extreme Conservatives, all I can say is,

"hang in there"...

Racist is only one of several distasteful adjectives that can be used to describe Ted Nugent.
I have never liked him and I can't understand the number of people that post on his Facebook page wishing he would run for President. And with the horrid way he got out of military service (now that was sub-human) I fail to understand the number of military vets, people who served, who were willing to risk their lives for their country, are all gung-ho for him.

“I have obviously failed to galvanize and prod, if not shame enough Americans to be ever vigilant not to let a Chicago communist raised, communist educated, communist nurtured subhuman mongrel like the ACORN community organizer gangster Barack Hussein Obama to weasel his way into the top office of authority in the United States of America.”
“I think America will be America again when Barack Obama, Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton, Dick Durbin, Michael Bloomberg and all of the liberal Democrats are in jail facing the just due punishment that their treasonous acts are clearly apparent.”
He called Obama a "chimpanzee", and said Hillary had “spare scrotums.”

Disgusting, racist, and mysogenistic for starters, I am sure somebody can add to the list.

Passer, "Do YOU believe Ted Nugent is a racist?"

I don't know.

But I would lean toward 'no'.

I highly disapprove of him calling Obama a subhuman mongrel.

Obama called HIMSELF a mongrel/mutt. But subhuman mongrel is uncalled for.

Now I answered you, Passer, answer me. Why did you double down on what you consider racism and call conservatives "racists" by using what to you was racist terminology of "a Spade a Spade"?

Why, Passer?

Everyone knows who are the folks who make nearly every post an insult to liberals, so there is no need for me to name anyone.

Besides, again, the A1, "I don't have to prove anything to you" Standard works pretty good here.

Nice twist, but nodice. I don't have to think that because you're not doing that. When you dismiss liberals as "liberal thugs" for not agreeing with you, your words themselves unveil what you really believe.

Name one person who believes those things.

All of them sound more like what liberals do if you change the word to "conservative" in each of your three points.

Did you ever stop to think that some of what we say is simply to hold a mirror up to liberals so that they can see what they say and do?

And they NEVER like it when you hold a mirror up to them. They cannot stand it when they see who they are.

The problem around here is that too many people think that:

(1) being liberal means you have mental deficiencies, so its ok to insult liberals because they can't comprehend what you're saying.

(2) that only conservatives think for themselves; and

(3) every problem in the world is the fault of liberals.

All false and all stupid beliefs; but yet people cling to one or more of those idiotic beliefs.

I "hang out" with my extremely liberal sister. She even gives me back issues of The New Yorker for my classroom. She got my permission to take my son to an anti-gun rally in Annapolis.

You should have heard my students go at it [repectfully] when we had the argumentative essay defenses. One of my students asked me just today, "Are you a Republican or a Democrat? I would guess Republican, but I can't really tell" I asked if it mattered? "Not really, I just wondered because you seem to be both at diffent times." I told him that he was very perceptive, I have been registered as both at different times in my life.

"Since when does hanging out with someone make you the same as them?" ROTFL!

I hang out with a couple of liberals. I even have a brother who is a liberal. No one thinks I am a liberal. Well, maybe Ted would. <<rimshot>>

"You on the other hand ...."

Yes, my point was correct (yeah, you're loathe to admit that) and Sneakers point was wrong; i.e., just because you hang out with someone doesn't make you like them (and yeah, you're loathe to admit your fellow conservative was wrong about that).

Silly, but predictable.

RNorm, "Then you acknowledge that my point is correct as stated."

I acknowledge that what Jesus did was right.

You on the other hand ....

"What I DID comment on was your eagerness to attach Jesus to Obama."

No, YOU put that into what I said, nobody else did.

So basically, you commented on YOUR OWN twist of what I said because I never attached Jesus to anything other than the the stupidity of people trying to imply he was a publican and/or a sinner for simply hanging out with publicans and sinners.

Silly.

"I have NO problem with anything Jesus did.

And yes, he was criticized for even eating with sinners and tax collectors.

But he set a GREAT example for all of us."

Then you acknowledge that my point is correct as stated.

Thanks.

ROTFL

Oh the desperation for a comeback, RNorm.

But keep trying.

I have NO problem with anything Jesus did.

And yes, he was criticized for even eating with sinners and tax collectors.

But he set a GREAT example for all of us.

I never said a word about that.

What I DID comment on was your eagerness to attach Jesus to Obama.

It just fell into the whole MESSIAH thing that has been with liberals since Obama started running ... and which the Obama campaign encouraged.

"We are the ones we have been waiting for." "this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal"

ROTFL

"But when you DID respond, your IMMEDIATELY tied Jesus to it!"

Your partisan blinders keep you from seeing how Jesus is the best example to refute that flawed logic.

Unless of course, you too are a pharisee and are implying that Jesus is a publican and/or sinner because he hung out with them:

"And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Matthew 9:11-13)

"...and your erroneous firebombs from the sideline do not apply..."

(They might as they do a lot of collateral damage to the "credibilty" of Conservative extremists here and make them look quite desperate and defensive.)

RNOrm, "Then almost TWO hours LATER (not immediately) I responded:"

ROTFL

But when you DID respond, your IMMEDIATELY tied Jesus to it!

Aren't facts such pesky things?

"Someone mentioned Obama's Marxism and IMMEDIATELY you brought up Jesus in comparison!"

Get your facts straight.

Someone said:

""It is correct to call him a Marxist, he admits in his own books he hung out with them.""

Then almost TWO hours LATER (not immediately) I responded:

""Since when does hanging out with someone make you the same as them?

Um, Jesus hung out with publicans and sinners, does that mean he was either????"

And I have yet to see someone call Jesus a publican and sinner, even though he was well known to hang out with them; refuting that clearly erroneous and faulty logic.

Too bad your partisan blinders hinder you from being part of a rational discussion and your erroneous firebombs from the sideline do not apply...

Whatever, dude.

"Why does he have to say "conservative" extremist?"

To remain on topic. I was specifically replying to A1's stereotypes in a specific post and say what you will, he is no "Liberal". If he was, that would be a different story.

RNorm, "Again, NOBODY made that comparison BUT YOU.

Silly."

Someone mentioned Obama's Marxism and IMMEDIATELY you brought up Jesus in comparison!

Silly it is, RNorm. Silly it is!
