Russia may not show aggression toward our military, but they are certainly positioned to thwart Obama's efforts against Assad.

Russian warships cross Bosphorus, en route to Syria

"Three Russian warships crossed Turkey's Bosphorus Strait Thursday en route to the eastern Mediterranean, near the Syrian coast, amid concern in the region over potential US-led strikes in response to the Damascus regime's alleged use of chemical weapons."

Putin warns Russia could come to Syria's aid over US strike

"Putin escalated concerns about the fallout from any strike when he indicated in an interview published Wednesday that his country could send Syria and its neighbors in the region the components of a missile shield if the U.S. attacks."

Russia is also demanding that the U.S. provide the UN with proof of Assad's use of chemical weapons against his own people.

Russia compiled 100-page report blaming Syrian rebels for a chemical weapons attack

"The Russian statement warned the United States and its allies not to conduct a military strike against Syria until the United Nations had completed a similarly detailed scientific study into the Aug. 21 attack. It warned that what it called the current “hysteria” about a possible military strike in the West was similar to the false claims and poor intelligence that preceded the United States invasion of Iraq."

“The Russian report is specific,” the ministry statement said. “It is a scientific and technical document.”

"The statement also noted that the attention paid to the Aug. 21 attack had diverted attention from the investigation into the March 19 incident, which was the reason U.N. investigators were in Syria when the more recent attack took place."

"Kerry's hypothetical proposal Monday night?"

Friday night (9/6/2013) Comedian Al Brooks tweeted a Syria joke: "Russia and the U.S. could unite for one week, go into Syria, remove the chemicals, and let them continue fighting."

Maybe Brooks should be SOS.
Maybe he should be POTUS.

Yep, Obama wanted to prove he was a war president and oops...something happened on the way to Oz. The wizard was exposed from behind his "transparent" curtain!

While the New York Times states that Russian Proposal Could Offer Obama Escape From Bind,
Breitbart tells it like it really is:

Russian Parliament Gloats as Putin Checkmates Obama Over Syria

"Kerry's hypothetical proposal during a round-robin of network interviews Monday night, President Obama chose to repeat Kerry's mistake. Russian President Vladmir Putin now looks like the world's peacemaker and Syria can dig in and drag this out forever..."

"The real win for Syria and Russia, though, is that when this diplomatic quagmire is all over, Assad remains in power. This, after Obama said he must go."

"Today, even Israel is laughing at us."

>>"so now cons believe the Russians? That's an interesting change of events which fits into the anti govt thinking of cons these days."<<

Apparently it is not just cons. Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi says the Russian plan has "given the President a victory". If Vladimer Putin ever receives the Nobel Peace Prize Barack Obama should hand it to him.

An airplane was about to crash; there were 5 passengers on board, but only 4 parachutes.

-

The first passenger, Holly Madison said, "I have my own reality show and I am the smartest and prettiest woman at Playboy, so Americans don't want me to die." She took the first pack and jumped out of the plane.

-

The second passenger, John McCain, said, "I'm a Senator, and a decorated war hero from an elite Navy unit from the United States of America." So he grabbed the second pack and jumped.

-

The third passenger, Barack Obama said, "I am the President of the United States and I am the smartest ever in the history of our country, some even call me the 'Anointed One.'" So he grabbed the pack next to him and jumped out.

The fourth passenger, Billy Graham said to the fifth passenger, a 10-year-old schoolgirl, "I have lived a full life and served my God the best I could. I will sacrifice my life and let you have the last parachute."-

The little girl said, "That's okay, Mr. Graham. There's a parachute left for you. America's smartest President took my schoolbag."

I don't think Russia is our friend. However, they did warn us about Tsarnaev, about which our government did little. Now they have come up with an alternate solution to Syria that does not involve our siding with possible terrorists.

Looks like Vlad outflanked Barak on this one, even though he ultimately may have saved Obama from losing a show down with congress.

What Happens When You Can't Believe A Thing The President Says?

Gocatgo, maybe the above might give some insight of why the president is being doubted...Worryfree, I would not want to be president... Though the problem in my opinion the qualified people can't afford to run... and so we get the unqualified that are "beholding" to special interest groups...

And that goes equally to both sides. One would think in the 2nd term a president could not be concerned about that... Who knows...

Maybe Obama will clear everything up tonight...

I doubt Vald Putin can do a thing if we choose to shoot off some Tomahawk cruise missiles. I doubt he can intercept them.

Obama sure seems to be very unsure of himself in this situation. He should be letting Putin know that know missiles will be transported to Syria or else...

Thanks, therder.

Yes, indeed, where is 0bama, our "leader" telling Putin and the Russians not to put S-300 missiles in Syria?

WWRD?
Ronald Reagan would have stated it something like this:
"Mr. Putin, you will NOT place S-300 missiles in Syria" via a private communication. Nothing else would have been required.

>>Indeed, does 0bama know what he is doing? Kerry (and Clinton)?
Putin and Netanyahu and leaders of other nations have tons of experience in the ways of our world, which includes skirmishes in brinksmanship.
0bama is a rube. A babe in the woods. The other world leaders know it.<<

Remember how Putin told Obama not to give a missile shield to Poland (that had been agreed to between Poland & the Bush Admin) and Obama backed down? Now Putin says he will transfer advanced S-300 missile defense systems to Syria once Damascus has provided payment for them. Talk about an "in your face act". This President is... I can't find the words...

The Guns of September?
"There are grand forces in human history. Then there are the actions of fools who think they can control events and who then start actions that spiral out of control."

"Ninety nine years ago this summer, a small series of events soon sparked a World War that resulted in decades of carnage -- World War I, The Russian Revolution, WWII, the Cold War, and the Vietnam War all had their beginnings in that period."

"It must be emphasized the crowned heads of Europe knew each quite well. Indeed, perhaps they knew each other too well."
"In the run up to WWI, European leaders were pretty much playing an insider's game of one-upmanship."

"When I see the pictures of John Kerry dining with Assad, Hillary Clinton meeting with various world leaders, Obama meeting with his advisers and Putin posing for the cameras as if he were successor to the autocratic Tsars I fear an insider's game is once again being played by people who think they have the power to limit and control the outcome. There isn't a player on this stage whose intellect, judgment, and experience is to be trusted."

Wow.
Just wow.

The Russkies' comments and suggestions make a lot of sense. Wait for the UN to complete its evaluation of who done it. As Obama says, timing of a possible strike isn't time critical. So what's the rush?
