Only in my home state. But then again, we probably have some beach-area residents who think they own the beach near their houses, too.

Beach firepits = global warming

"Initially, many thought the rules would go through without much opposition. Beachgoers are not an especially vocal or organized lobby. Leaf-blowers and gas-powered weed wackers cause far more air pollution than beach bonfires, but California chose not to regulate them after Hispanic lawmakers protested on behalf of landscapers."

AC-302: "the fool South Coast Air Quality Management District ("AQMD") is also trying to ban charcoal briquettes. They want people to move to propane BBQs. Now, I prefer the convenience of propane, but shouldn't that be my choice, not theirs? Also, AQMD is trying to ban fireplaces in LaLa land. If by some mishap (such as earthquake), your fireplace caves in, they're trying to force you NOT to be able to rebuild it."

Charcoal briquettes and fireplaces? Guess they've never noticed that mesquite briquettes are sold in stores (my brother got some one year).

Wonder what agency is above them.

BTW, they voted to adopt the compromise: no firepits within 750 feet of a house.

It's the land of fruits and nuts, but the AQMD is in LaLa land, proper. No wonder Midwesterner's call it "LaLa Land".

But But AC and NSB - wood is one of them green renewable energy sources. Any forester worth his salt can grow wood on the same piece of land until the cows come home.

Oh, it gets better than this.. the fool South Coast Air Quality Management District ("AQMD") is also trying to ban charcoal briquettes. They want people to move to propane BBQs. Now, I prefer the convenience of propane, but shouldn't that be my choice, not theirs? Also, AQMD is trying to ban fireplaces in LaLa land. If by some mishap (such as earthquake), your fireplace caves in, they're trying to force you NOT to be able to rebuild it.

Once again, those that I would call "liberal idiots" trying to run your life for you, in the name of some nebulous public "good".

The bad thing is, if this goes through in ca, the greenies will see it as a green light to try and outlaw camp fires and back yard fire pits in every state in the union. Any bets, that they will also go after people that heat with wood?

Totally treehugger loonytunes. Makes one glad to have moved out of that state years ago.
