How many times does it have to be proven that you cant trust environmentalists.
.
>>>Filmmaker and anti-fracking activist Josh Fox’s new film “Gasland Part II” uses a Texas environmentalist’s hoax to show hydraulic fracturing allegedly contaminating water.

The Washington Free Beacon reports that the controversial anti-fracking sequel features a scene where a Texas landowner is able to light the contents of his garden hose on fire. This is then used as evidence that nearby oil and gas operations caused the contamination.

However, a Texas court ruled that the scene was a hoax concocted by an environmental activist engaged in a prolonged battle with a local gas company. The environmentalist sought to inflate the dangers of fracking.

Texas’ 43rd Judicial District Court found last year that the Texas landowner, “under the advice or direction” of environmental activist Alisa Rich, “intentionally attach[ed] a garden hose to a gas vent — not a water line” and lit it on fire.

“This demonstration was not done for scientific study but to provide local and national news media a deceptive video, calculated to alarm the public into believing the water was burning,” the court ruled.

The ruling was in response to a defamation complaint brought by gas company Range Resources, which has fracking operations in the area.

According to the Free Beacon, Rich worked with the Environmental Protection Agency to issue an endangerment order against Range Resources. The order was withdrawn once the agency could not prove that local water pollution came from oil and gas operations.<<<

Personally I think the "film maker" should be sued for all the costs his lies caused the gas company and industry.

And again, in GasLand, there is a guy who claims that his water became "gassy" after hydraulic fracturing. Well, the real truth is that his water had nat gas contamination long before any fracturing in his area. But he just says it's not so, it can't be, etc. After his state did extensive testing of this man's water, they concluded it was safe to drink. The guy refused to believe it, and was likely looking for a big payout from the nat gas drillers, who didn't cause his problem. But perhaps if he get's his sob story out there, he can get a sympathetic jury to award him a big payday.

"Why dosen't the Natural gas association sue this filmmaker for libel and slander?"

Because pretty much all the people who watched the film and believed it fall into 3 categories:
1 Those who have natural gas but can not afford to switch from natural gas heating to the other heat sources which are many times more expensive than natural gas.
2 Those who can not afford or do not have natural gas service.
3 Those who are are on welfare, beggars cant be choosers.

Hey! Do you think Michael Moron will do a documentary and badger Josh Fox? The two of them deserve each other.

Should teh gas companies be able to sue this filmmaker for libel and expenses because he lied, tried to damage them and knew it.

“Fiction seems to be more effective at changing beliefs than nonfiction, which is designed to persuade through argument and evidence. Studies show that when we read nonfiction, we read with our shields up. We are critical and skeptical. But when we are absorbed in a story, we drop our intellectual guard. We are moved emotionally, and this seems to make us rubbery and easy to shape.”

--Jonathan Gottschall (Boston Globe)

Watching fiction is even more effective than reading it (most people don't read any more).

Yeah I hear a lot of people complaining about the abundant source of cheap affordable natural gas.

Worst case scenario a few people get their water contaminated, so millions of low income families shouldn't be able to heat their homes?
Wait but I thought liberals "cared about the poor". So is it a lie or are they just stupid?
Is it just me or are liberals just really stupid?
