I had a tough upbringing with rather cold parents myself. What of it? Does anyone really give a "flip"? Real life tragedy is boring. If the lazy bum doesn't get off his keyster and work, that's his fault, not that of his family.

To further illustrate how pervasive the problem of fatherlessness is, consider a story this week here in my town:
DAYTON — Bond is set for a Dayton man accused of shooting two teenage girls — one fatally.
The suspect, recently released from prison after a murder conviction (let me know how that rehabilitation vs recidivism is going), goes to the home of his current "girlfriend" who doesn't want to see him anymore. The woman is not there, so the perp shoots two teenage girls instead. Hey, I guess if you're in the mood to kill a female, you can't be too picky. So how does fatherlessness come into the picture? I am guessing the perp did not grow up in a two-parent household. (Just a guess) If the woman were married, whether to the father of her children or to some other man, she would not have had to pick up a "boyfriend" who happened to be a convicted murdered. Can you follow the logic of this tragedy?
And judging from five decades of experience, the government makes a very poor substitute for a real father. That's the point that Larry Elder was making, that you missed.

I75: "He offers no alternative." I'm shocked! No new government program? I'm sure this can all be fixed with higher taxes and more spending. Maybe the government should start a "Rent'A'Father" program. mudtoe

Speaking of absent (or non-participatory) parents, specifically fathers, Obama finally addressed the issue, at a speech in Chicago recently. Larry Elder delves into the realities of fatherless families and how Obama missed the mark. Obama Finally Talks About Fatherlessness
"Obama, in Chicago, finally talked about the lack of fathers and the impact this has on crime rather than complain about the number of rounds in a magazine: “For a lot of young boys and young men in particular, they don’t see an example of fathers or grandfathers, uncles, who are in a position to support families and be held up in respect. And so that means that this is not just a gun issue; it’s also an issue of the kinds of communities that we’re building. When a child opens fire on another child, there is a hole in that child’s heart that government can’t fill. Only community and parents and teachers and clergy can fill that hole.”
He offers no alternative."

If he REALLY wanted a Dominos franchise he should know the best way is to go work at Dominos and be a management trainee. He has to have the training anyway. If he doesn't make it starting as a delivery driver and pizza maker, he will be out of a job and will have proved himself unworthy of a franchise. You don't just buy a franchise and hire a bunch of inexperience people. There are 2 classes of franchise applicants. If he hasn't gained internal work experience, he becomes an external applicant. "External franchisees have not previously worked with Domino’s as a General Manager, but do bring outside business or other management experience to the table." And he brings what? Nasty attitude?
His sister said it best when she called him “crazy” and “a pathological liar.” “I’m not on public assistance. My parents were not terrible. They did the best they could. He chose the life he’s leading now.”.
