Do you remember this qoute?
"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a Civilian National Security Force thats just as powerful, just as strong, just as funded." Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama 2008 An interesting read.

Understand that your United States Coast Guard is also an armed, uniformed service of the US, and is organized under DHS. And the CG, among it's many other duties, also has to prevent smuggling and does port security (both here and abroad). So, they have a need for "real" military weapons. Are these going to the Coast Guard, or to some other deputized LE branch under DHS? If it were the TSA, Lord help us! They probably couldn't figure out how to move them through the metal detectors without setting them off and frisking and arresting themselves.

"Oilpan apparently you missed Newtown. The local PD officers ran into the school at full speed. Civilians can run away. A COPS job has them running towards the bad guys".
Well there is a first time for everything. If there are more shootings in schools maybe the cops every where will respond like that.

Apparently, there are DHS agents that can snap and shoot good guys.
One case of DHS employee trusted with a gun
Don't you feel that it is hypocritical to take one class of humans (government employees) and trust them to be 100% responsible with a firearm, but take another class of humans (American citizens), and take away their right to be a lawful responsible gun owner?
Liberals, people that see the government as the answer and savior to all of societal ills, as the only entity that is never wrong, that always will be there 24/7 to protect us from harm, and that private sector citizens are lacking of any intelligence. People that believe that we should live in a monarchy. People that have forgotten the blood and sacrifice that bought our freedom. People that want to discard the constitution.

Oilpan apparently you missed Newtown. The local PD officers ran into the school at full speed. Civilians can run away. A COPS job has them running towards the bad guys. They need the best arms. We civilians don't (and I say that as an AR15 owner...) The TSA workers are an unarmed division of DHS. Most of the DHS agents face seriously armed bad guys.

AC that is the point - why does DHS need full auto machine guns for 'personal defense' when people are saying that ordinary people dont need guns for pwesonal defense at all much less a semiauto or heaven forbid a machine gun....
Seems to be a huge double standard here and the irony is loud.

What DHS is talking about here are true "assault rifles". They are full auto, switchable to semi-auto (aka "select fire"). Yeah, so what's the point? These types of weapons are not available to the general public at large. Semi-auto versions of them have been available, but they're largely different guns, though they make look alike and scare some anti-gun fool liberals into soiling their pants.

"we can and should run the other way if possible".
Agreed, But these cold calculating mass murders try to trap the largest number of people in as small a room as possible with no other exits if they can. When they start shooting there may be no where to run.
"DHS and other law enforcement types run towards the shooters".
But they don't. Time and time again they have shown us how police procedure works. The first responders call/wait for backup, with backup they set up a parameter and wait for swat to show up. If the shooting stops for a while, they might go in with out swat.

A few of my buds out for a day of fun, southwest of Madison. Dave rebuilt and made most of his Krink parts.

So you cons want the people charged with keeping us safe underarmed and outgunned by the bad buys? Civilian gun owners DO NOT have to go towards shooters- we can and should run the other way if possible. DHS and other law enforcement types run towards the shooters. Big difference.

Obama doesn't want your skeet gun. He'd miss his if he had to give it up. Shoots all the time.

Ruger is coming out with a new pistol in honor of Obama. It will be called the "Union Worker." It doesn't work and you can't fire it.

To mow down Americans that won't take off their shoes at the scanner?

They are buying guns that have the sole purpose of mowing people down. At least this is what the liberals claim. What happens when the people that hold them become unstable? Or they have these guns stolen or lost? Why is the government still spending money they don't have for more guns?
Another reason they'll never get mine...

If I am to be restricted to a rifle which can only fire one round at a time, then let me have one of those old 56 caliber Spencer rifles which can fire a 50 caliber round by using a sabot to drop a buffalo at one mile. It would be easy to keep those with faster firing arms that wanted to stay alive at a distance (those bullet proof vests would not protect against these rounds).

Since I have used burst fire M16A2 like this I think the burst fire is useless at distances greater than around 30 yards. Only good for very close quarters. Other wise it just burns up ammo like you wouldn't believe. Im not saying I wish I couldn't buy one. (I dont have $25,000 to spend on one gun)
Now what happened to all the gun banner liberal types that were trying to tell us we don't need an assault rifle with a big mag for personal defence?

Does anyone wonder why they need a machinegun for 'personal defense'? If its that good for personal defense shouldnt it be acceptable for everyone to have for personal defense?

It sounds like just the kind of weapon our forefathers had in mind when they wrote the 2nd Amendment to emphasis the fact that we all have the right to keep and bear arms.

I think of the DHS employees patting down passengers at airports, saving and sharing scanner pictures, the ones caught stealing from passengers and the occasional DHS drug runners and think we can trust these people well armed and in public. Sure we can!
