Are there any "gun free" zones? These people are not mentally ill; they are cold and calculating murderers. They keep making the points that 1) gun control does not work, and 2) there is no such thing as a "gun free zone." The "majority" continues to miss the points. Why is it that people can not see that these people are criminals; they do not legally own these firearms - firearms obtained with the intent to commit a crime are not legally obtained; they commit their crimes where they KNOW the level of resistance will be as low as possible. It would be the same if they used knives or hammers.
These people are smart, calculating, and wicked. Until the world awakens to this reality, and starts dealing with the wickedness, we will continue to witness murderous rampages.

It's certainly a big task and no solution would be "bulletproof" perfect. But either by employing a number of security guards or allowing faculty (or even qualified students) to be armed or have access to firearms certainly provides much better odds at stopping an assailant than does the proven failure of gun-free zoning!

Then they will eat us or enslave us.

However, with the United Sates being the largest supplier of arms to the rest of the world, using out tax money to pay for it, there are certainly a LOT of free gun zones.

Gun free zones only protect common criminals, deranged mass murdering perps and crazy ex relationship partners.

True, I will revise the question then, "how do you pickout an assailant with a bag/coat full of weapons/explosives from a student overloaded with books and papers?"

Must be the NRA was right - the only way to stop an armed thug is to be armed. Some one said to me years ago that "there is no common sense any more." To see so many senseless morons is mind boggling. Next, there will be a call for white people to cover up with show polish; for heterosexuals to be required to "just try" being "gay" for a day; for every high school kid to be forced to "try" pot. Every thing is backwards. Thugs go free, innocent people are arrested and murdered by police, and law-abiding people are made out to be criminals. What next?

We need more "gun free zones".....that really works doesn't it? If that doesn't work make more laws to make guns illegal, that really works, no cocaine out here to be found, is there. Ban something else to coddle the liberals, David slay Goliath with a rock....BAN ROCKS. Sometimes people just need to be smacked to wake them up to see the light.

popcorn, if it were only that simple. If you saw the map I linked to, you would have noticed the numerous buildings (13 i believe) which have an unnumbered amount of floors and exits. Guns cannot accurately shoot through walls, even the barret that cliffy mentioned, without the chance for some accidental causalties.
I doubt even a 10 man team for each building (and one for the exterior grounds) could repell a gunman from getting inside one or more of the buildings (assuming they are working in 3 shifts, each shift made up of 10 men). Those 10 men would have to patrol their entire building (or campus grounds) while trying to pickout a possible gunman from the numerous students and teachers who go to school everyday. How do you pickout a gunamn with a bag/coat full of weapons from a student overloaded with books and papers?

The Barrett M82A1 Effective range, over 1,800 metres (5,900 ft) (1.1 miles), along with high energy and availability of highly effective ammunition such as API and Raufoss Mk 211, allows for effective operations against targets like radar cabins, trucks, parked aircraft and the like. The M82 can also be used to defeat human targets from standoff range or against targets behind cover. One gun mount, 3 shifts.

One officer for every acre. three shifts weekends $35,000 per officer 1,016 cops should be enough. $35,000,000 should cover it.

Gun Free? In a statement issued late Tuesday night, the Lone Star College System says all its 170 officers police and security personnel have been trained for such emergencies and the Office of Emergency Management followed contacted students via text messages, e-mail, web, voice messages, and personal announcements. 170.
