gocat...read the story you linked to. It does not say they can confiscate your gun if you are following the law. It does say they can check a weapon when you are hunting because there are caliber and magazine restrictions. But go ahead and keep spreading the misinformation but your own article tells a different story than you claimed.

gocat - I am not arguing that the laws in all states are the same. Nor am I arguing that the law enforcement folks have the authority to require you to disarm if they have probable cause you have committed a crime of some sort. That is not only game wardens but every other law enforcement officer. I guess it depends on how you interpret 'confiscate'. I'm pretty sure that if you're convicted of some game law violations the penalty is that any equipment you used to commit the violation is subject to confiscation by the state. That includes guns, vehicles, and fishing equipment - whatever. Depends on state law.
But the carp and coot cop doesnt have the right to arbitrarily take firearms.

Fly, again a game warden can confiscate weapons and does not need a warrant as my link made very clearly. In your case if you did Not break the law there was no reason to take your gun. Next time you talk to a game warden ask them about their far reaching authority. I will be talking with one today.

Well, at least Ray Nagin was a trustworthy guy with good intentions.
I'm sure the 1,000 that WERE confiscated were from repentant criminals.

gocatgo, >>There are many loopholes in the US Constitution.<< *** No, there are a number of officials not living up to their oath of office who know the cost to bring a suit to the US Supreme Court is prohibitive for most ordinary citizens. Again, the ordinary citizen gets screwed.

Gocat - I have worked with or been on the other end with game wardens in many states - including Wisc. Never once have they asked me to give them my firearm.

About a 1,000 guns out of nearly 300,000,000 confiscated. I am shaking, Lol. So what did George W Bush's US Attorney General do about this miscarriage of justice on the 2nd Amendment?
Here's another little news flash for gun owners. Don't get caught by a game warden breaking the law because he can and will confiscate your gun. Also a game warden can make searches without a warrant. There are many loopholes in the US Constitution.

Until the mayor, chief and all cops or anyone else who participated in this are held personally responsible by the courts - nothing will be done.
