Skeptics shot back that major hurricanes hit New York in 1821 and 1938, long before fossil-fuel emissions were a factor. So, freak storm or climate change? The answer is unknowable. No individual weather event can be conclusively linked to man-made climate change. Scientists also say global warming is more likely to intensify disasters than to cause them. So a logical conclusion is that Sandy would have happened with or without climate change, but that extra heat and humidity fed its strength. This much seems beyond dispute: Because of man-made warming or natural cycles, or both, the U.S. is in an era of extreme-weather events. A report this month by Munich Re, the world's largest reinsurance firm, confirmed what has been widely suspected. The number of weather-related catastrophes has been rising dramatically since 1980 on all continents, with the steepest increase in North America. Insured losses on the continent soared from an average of $9billion a year in the 1980s to $36billion a year in the 2000s, the study found. For the short term, then, the United States can't treat each storm as a fluke. The nation needs to maintain its ability to predict and respond to disasters. In particular, that means not allowing the nation's aging fleet of weather satellites to fall into decline. The National Research Council warned in May that the Earth observing system is entering a rapid decrease in capability, as long-running missions end and key new missions are canceled or delayed. Longer term, the United States, along with other major emitters such as China and India, will need to limit greenhouse gas emissions. The presidential candidates don't like to talk about climate change, which they ignored during the debates, because the solutions inevitably involve higher energy prices. But as Sandy's mounting toll suggests, the costs of inaction, in tragedy and property, might be even greater."

She was manufactured in the Hurricane Encabulator that Obama installed inside the man-sized vault Dick Cheney left behind. It worked well too. I'm surprised the Bozells and the Trumps and the Fox Noises haven't run with this story like they have the Petraeus affair hoax. After all, which is more believable? As for Mother Nature and God, I don't know how far deistic anthropomorphism should be taken but my Creator/force of Nature is absolutely female. There's no way She can be anything else.

You don't believe? She floats up out of the pumpkin patch at midnight every Halloween... Riding on the back of Big Bird. Well, maybe there is no actual being known as MN, but there is nature. And nature is very good at giving us messages. Animals have been known to run for higher ground just before a tsunami. Ya think they got a tweet? It is no myth that storms have been getting stronger, more damaging and more costly. Just like the scientists predicted with global warming. And now our largest city has been flooded. Just like the scientists predicted with global warming. And the sea levels are rising. Just like the scientists predicted with global warming. And the deniers have all said they won't believe it until they see it. And now here it is but still they are sticking their heads in the sand. I hope that sand is not on the beach in New Jersey.

It is a massive fraud, with certain "green energy" players positioning themselves to reap $$. Even Al Gore has had to retract major portions of "Inconvenient Truth" as his data has proven to be at least flawed, or (more likely) fraudulent. The hacked emails of East Anglia Climate Research Unit PROVES they are manipulating data to advanced the climate-warming thesis. Incidentally, the DNC didn't move the rally from the Bank of America Stadium to an indoor venue because of mere rain. The forecast for rain that night was below 10%. A political event with a stadium under one-half filled would have looked awful!

Hurricane Sandy is proof there is no God. Science tells us that the Bible is wrong. The Earth has been around much longer than the Bible claims. And it's creation took much longer than 6 days. Science is also telling us that 7 billion humans can burn things daily without having an effect on our atmosphere. Climate Change may not cause hurricanes. But it makes them more intense. This summer was hotter than average. Arctic Ice at it's lowest levels. Warmer water intensifies hurricanes. Sandy was not such a big storm until it hit unseasonably warm water in the Atlantic on it's way up to New Jersey.
