Stern did the same "Man on the Street" interviews in Harlem in 2008 with the same results. Maybe he cherry picked these interviews. it's hard to believe you could find ten random folks who are this confused or poorly informed. Still, it's a little scarey to think ANY voter could be this out of touch. Maybe someone can come up with a similar interview of Romney supporters.

Google released some statistics right around election day that suggested the majority of the electorate was uninformed and stupid.

Let's "up" that to a level where someone as stupid and ignorant as the ObamaPhone lady gets automatically deported to a new country where they can have things the way they like them. It could be called Ignoramustan and maybe we can just incorporate it from our 57th state.

>>Do you think a white candidate with Obama's record and agenda would be elected?<<

Jennifer Granholm Democrat Governor of Michigan

In her first term, she was in over her head, jobs were fleeing the State, tax revenues in a nose dive.

nobody thought she could get re-elected

She ran a campaign on "I just need more time and you will be blown away". Her opponent was a successful business man who was easy to smear as "greedy"

Granholm won her re-election, the State continued its decline for 4 additional years.

Back in August I was really concerned this phenomenon we experienced in Michigan would happen Nationally with Obama.

It did, nearly to every detail.

Democrats are never held accountable for their record, people vote to not risk their government check. Simple as that. This was the brilliance in Obamas campaign. Michigan is typically hijacked by the Detroit vote, its just pure numbers, nothing we can do about it. Obama targeted this Nation wide. Get 90% of the inner city population to vote, you win easily.

Consequences of millions of Americans not taking elections seriously -- and staying home

"No. The same could be said for a Republican candidate."
.....
ditto

"There should be a "ignorance test" before anyone is allowed to vote, everyone should at least know who the main candidates are."

An ignorance test might be good for candidates as well. We could include a test on the Constitution, especially the enumerated powers section.

This writer in "Pravda" thinks our voters are a bunch of idiots!

"President Vladimir Putin could never have imagined anyone so ignorant or so willing to destroy their people like Obama much less seeing millions vote for someone like Obama. They read history in America don't they? Alas, the schools in the U.S. were conquered by the Communists long ago and history was revised thus paving the way for their Communist presidents. Obama has bailed out those businesses that voted for him and increased the debt to over 16 trillion with an ever increasing unemployment rate especially among blacks and other minorities. All the while promoting his agenda."

Boy, does he have that right!

>>Well No1doc, since you gave no supporting link for that blurb I dropped it into Google to see where it came from, and it's a blog. A blog that referred to a Bloomberg article that the blogger misinterpreted, whether deliberately or not, in what the car company called "a leap that would be difficult for professional circus acrobats".<<

In fact, there was an entire thread devoted to this topic right here in our very own politics forum. And it linked to this article from the right-wing Washington Examiner, which was jumped on by the hordes of conservative bloggers who mindlessly parrot everything they hear or read from other right-wing sources.

Did the Washington Examiner writer "misinterpret" the Bloomberg article and/or what the CEO of Chrysler said? No, he deliberately lied. The Bloomberg article specifically states, "Manley referred to adding Jeep production sites rather than shifting output from North America to China."

I certainly wouldn't consider anyone who would start such a thread, or continues to believe this proven lie to be "well informed".

EKEugene said: "As I said way way before the election, I'll say it again after: hiring a businessman to run a government is just like hiring a fox to run a chicken coop. Business and government are two entirely different things that serve entirely different goals, often in direct opposition."

--And government usually does things that are not in businesses best interest, and I'm not talking even about regulation of pollution nor safety. Outside of that, government makes and keeps rules that are archaic and conflicting. Oh, and there was a mathematician who won a Nobel in economics for a theory he developed that suggests that businesses will do whatever they can to counter any government regulation that is made. Don't you think the government could help maximize employment AND maximize business tax revenues by finding that "sweet spot" where businesses aren't over-regulated and over-burdened, yet are happy to pay a simplified, but reduced tax rate (simplified = fewer deductions)? That is where I see Mitt Romney would have had a profound effect on our economic recovery. And for someone who would say this is a fox guarding the chicken coop, why so? Wouldn't you think that with a half-billion bucks, he's already wealthy enough not to have to graft? I would. Schwarzenegger here in CA was in the same position. He was ineffective after a time, but he wasn't grafting that I could detect - just balling the maid.

eke< Considering where Jeep production is not moving to, voters were better informed than at least one of the candidates.

Except the 47% who believed in "truth-warp-drive" I guess...
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This interview with Jeep's president was reported in several news sources in late October:

"In a Bloomberg interview, Jeep's president said the automaker plans to restore Jeep production in China, suspended in 2009, and is considering making all Jeeps in China. "Fiat SpA, majority owner of Chrysler Group LLC, plans to return Jeep output to China and may eventually make all of its models in that country, according to the head of both automakers' operations in the region," reported the business wire service.

Mike Manley, chief operating officer of Fiat and Chrysler in Asia and president of the Jeep brand, told Bloomberg, "We're reviewing the opportunities within existing capacity" as well as "should we be localizing the entire Jeep portfolio or some of the Jeep portfolio" to China."

gocatgo said: "53% of the American voters were informed enough to see that Mitt Romney was a phony."

--Uhh.. wasn't the popular vote 50:48? And for the two percent unaccounted for, wouldn't you guess that just as many voters found Obama's record of failure also disheartening?

At least Romney had business experience and has signed the FRONT of a paycheck, unlike Obama, who has no clue about business and business climate. "It's the economy, stupid" still rings true, and Obama still doesn't get it. Is it sour grapes? NO, Obama won fair and square, or mostly so. Now do I think the 50% who voted him, including you, are imbiciles? No. And neither should you think that of the other 50% who did not vote for Obama. You ought to try to find out where compromise could be had, and urge YOUR PARTY to leverage those compromises and work with the opposing side for the betterment of the country. There are many of us who are well informed, but still didn't like Obama's blatantly stupid policies. And there are those of us even in the middle, who think Obama's polices are not in America's best long-term interests, and will oppose them. Get used to it. Get your president to compromise and find the ground that BOTH sides can live with - or are you also so ideologically entrenched that you cannot compromise?

Panama, That is a case in point, indicating that spreading Dem propaganda has replaced informing the voters in the MSM.

Exactly right Panama.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You were a prophet Ben:

A nation of well informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins."

In this video, none of these young people knew how any representatives or senators we have in Congress. Most couldn't identify the three branches of federal government and only one could identify a member of Obama's cabinet.

But, they could rattle off democrat talking points.

There should be some type of test before anyone is allowed to vote. I do not know how or what type of questions to ask, but there are a lot of "dim-wits" out there voting that should not be.

Actually you could fill the space with a few videos of the sara palin faithful, but for this election we have the same people that repeat the same hate speech that fox news give us 24/7. They pay their so-called reporters with multimillion dollar contracts to keep the simple folk scared of anyone that does not hold the same warped values they determine that are important, perhaps.

So well said G-man - I was so disappointed by the lack of coverage for Romney's speech in Ohio this morning by ABC, NBC and CBS and the early cut-away from CNN. FOX covered it to the end and if everyone was allowed to see and hear Romney as the statesman, leader and rescuer of our tanking economy then there would be no doubt who would win, but when the MSM is denying voters the chance to actually compare the two candidates that is just so wrong on so many levels.

It's a national shame how our third estate (the national media) is SO biased.

Anybody near 50 or over will remember the Watergate hearings which were televised lived on all three channels for weeks. (And what was it? Nixon's folks spying on Democrats in a hotel and then the administration covering it up.)

Today, we have four American DEAD in an embassy and reports are they were tortured and even sodomized before being murdered. Then we had a HUGE coverup by the State Department and the White House which went on for weeks.

The media showed a little of their bias when Clinton was in hot water with Lewinsky but they are over-the-top incompetent with this story...totally ignoring it because they are SO wanting Obama re-elected.

But they will have a huge toll to pay...their credibility is shot and most Americans are finally seeing them for what they really are...just another politically controlled faction of the DNC.

Hard to believe but........

Obama Supporters Never Heard of Benghazi Attack…

From Bluegrass Pundit October 18, 2012:

"Revealing Politics went to the Ohio University campus to an Obama event on October 17th to find out what the President's supporters thought about the September 11 Benghazi attacks. Turns out they didn't think much, as most of the event attendees we interviewed had never even heard of it."

It is amazing that people who think we cannot afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, and medication somehow think that we can afford to pay for doctors, hospitals, medication and a government bureaucracy to administer it.

Is it really a matter of information? Some voter will vote out of complete blind faith. No how much information you give them, they will still vote for someone.

Look at Marion Barry of Washington D.C. He was a CONVICTED cocaine user and they still elected him anyway.

I saw something similar done during the Dem Nat'l Convention. You can find ignorant people anywhere/everywhere. The fact that they just keep supporting a candidate based on their ignorance is the scary part. Maybe Romney wasn't too far off with his 47% wisecrack at the Republican fundraiser...

SS: "Of course you could do the same with Romney supporters."

Really? If it were that easy to find that caliber of Romney supporter you can bet that MSNBC, or NBC proper, would have already done it. The fact that they haven't speaks volumes. Bottom line is that if you pull your own weight in the world, which the vast majority of Romney supporters do, it requires a certain minimum level of intelligence, except perhaps if you are a movie or rock star.

A lot of voters need to become more informed about obama the clueless, instead of just automaticly voting for him again, because they like him. I liked my first grade teacher, but sure would never vote for him for president.
