101, Those are things but if you really, like d2009, hate the leader of our country, than you are both much better haters than I. And I'm not sure about you, but she claims to be a great Christian to the extent that it is embroidered on her sleeve. I am not a Christian as I haven't learned or been taught by a cleric to hate people who don't share my politics or religion that much. Again, you both are much better haters than I.

I hate the IRS being used to go after Republicans, Tea Party members, or anyone else in this country.
I hate the coverup of the deaths of four American citizens in Benghazi by Obama and/or his administration.
I hate our government going after reporters and/or their news networks for asking the tough questions of the president and his administration.

Oh...he said the other day that he's going to get back on that.
He's going to get back on ANYTHING that doesn't have the words "Associated Press", "Internal Revenue Service" or "Benghazi" in it and is hoping against all odds that he can redirect the nation's attention elsewhere. Perhaps a new ObozoPhone giveaway is in the planning stages?

"The Democratic ticket would have to be pretty bad for me to consider that re-tread!" Don't worry, Ws, that "retread" is "retired" from politics never to run (or two-face a political crowd) again. And for that, if nothing else, 2012 was a "Goodyear".

The Democratic ticket would have to be pretty bad for me to consider that re-tread! Not that it couldn't happen though.
I would hope that the GOP would offer me a better candidate to choose from...

::::Mitt Romney would have made a better president than George Bush Jr. ::: In reality, Bush was one of our better presidents. Liberals are so deeply ashamed that Obama has not measured up that even after 5 years out of the White House, they can't help themselves from comparing him to Bush. They continue to blame all of Obama's failures on Bush (and Limbaugh). Why not go on Obama's record? Why continue to compare Obama to a president they supposedly don't like?

Oh come on now! There wouldn't be a terrorist running against Obama for President in the 2012 election. Geez, that's just ridiculous.
Besides, there already was one muslim on the ticket anyway. :P
Cue the gnashing of teeth & lecturing about how President Passerby isn't a muslim. For purposes of this joke, he is. Cram it!

The United States made a big mistake by not electing Romney. The country would be safely in the hands of a competent, self motivated leader whose sense of purpose and direction for a stronger America was a matter of pride. Instead we re-elected Obama and are weaker for it.

"There's a good chance we wouldn't have an ethanol mandate and a huge credit card - war debt to pay off."
And there is an even better chance we would. Romney is for big business. The ethanol mandate was huge for big business. 9/11 would have still happened and the war hawks would have had his ear.

"I would have liked Mitt better if he would have won in 2000 & 2004."
Mitt Romney wasn't running in either of those years. In 2004 he had been governor of Massachusetts for less than 2 years. That experience in Massachusetts helped him be a credible Presidential candidate in 2008 and 2012.
"There's a good chance we wouldn't have an ethanol mandate and a huge credit card - war debt to pay off. "
The ethanol mandate had much to do with agribusiness lobbying rather than the policy of any particular administration, including that of GW Bush.
As for the "war debt," that pales in comparison to Obama's "stimulus" debt.

The ethanol mandate came in under Bush, if I am not mistaken, why do you think it would have been different if Romney had been President instead of Dubya? The US became the world's largest producer of ethanol in 2005.

"... it seems a remarkable new leader pops up just when despair is at its worst." Like Roosevelt in response to Hitler? Or Lincoln (or Washington) when this country was really at "its worst". Reagan was no Lincoln or Washington. And Bush was no Roosevelt in spite of your tripping over your Bushy Tales. In the last 80 years, only Hoover was a Republican who gave a dam (but it took Democrats to fund it).

What gives me hope is if you look to history, it seems a remarkable new leader pops up just when despair is at its worst. Look at the remarkable appearance of Reagan, Thatcher and Pope John Paul. Reagan appeared just when the US was at its lowest point. After the disastrous policies of the Carter administration. The Carter years were a mirror image of the Obama years, starting with Carter's coronation. Same with Thatcher, along with Churchill, the 2 greatest British leaders of the 20th century. She brought a broken, bankrupt, fully socialist country back from the grave. Again a near mirror image of the US today. And of course together with Pope John Paul the trio collapsed European socialism, freeing millions of people from bondage.

I don't get why the Democrats and in particular MSLSD is STILL going after Romney? News flash: He lost the election! Obama won. So if Obama is doing so good, why do they keep trashing Romeny? Is it, perchance, because Obama is, in fact, a loser? If they don't keep bashing on Romney, will they then have to address Obama's poor, foolish and reckless fiscal policies that are bankrupting us?
Say, btc1 - where's that "laser like focus on jobs" Obama promised??

"...heck, I would take hillary over obama."
One of the amazing things about Obama is who he makes look good. For years, I feared Hillary Clinton running for President. But when she and Obama squared off in the 2008 primaries, Obama's complete lack of experience made Hilary look good. Then Obama won, and got into office. In short order, his incompetent politicking made Bill Clinton look good. Then his apologetic foreign policy made Jimmy Carter look good. Finally, his Rube Goldberg social program called Obamacare made LBJ look good.

"The illegal immigrant population of the United States in 2008 was estimated by the Center for Immigration Studies to be about 11 million people, down from 12.5 million people in 2007.[1] Other estimates range from 7 to 20 million.[2] According to a 2005 Pew Hispanic Center report, 56% of illegal immigrants were from Mexico; 22% were from other Latin American countries; 13% were from Asia; 6% were from Europe and Canada; and 3% were from Africa and the rest of the world.[3]" Wiki
Due to the economy, the number of illegal aliens are going down. Some have listened to Romney and "self deported" (again, for economic reasons -- not because Romney was so persuasive to any one group except wealthier WASP Republicans)!

"You seem to be in another world --..." That could be a quote from Superman Comics where that's what one citizen in the Bizarro World communicated to someone in ours. It is a shame that the current GOP recently invaded the Bizarro World, and took it over completely. Their only casualties were suffering from eating an enormous quantity of sour grapes -- but they seemed to have mistaken where the Bizarros hid their sour grapes with where they hid their grapes of wrath. They are both stored very close to each other. So instead of "truth", it is the GOP's caboose that is now marching on... Glory, Glory Halleluiah

I see 30 million unregistered Democrats among the illegal immigrants who are guaranteed to vote liberal. After all which party is more likely to continue giving them handouts? With 30 million new democrats, there is no possible way for conservatives to ever again be of any significance. Any and all liberal programs dreamed up will come to pass. Despite our being broke the spending will escalate until the inevitable collapse. We are seeing it in Europe. We see it happening in the UK. All the models of European socialism are fighting for survival. Our turn is next. So yes the time of the US has passed. Only conservative policy can right this floundering ship of state. We saw it happen under both Reagan and Thatcher. It can be done. But the reality is it won't happen. Conservatives simply don't have the votes, don't have the numbers. Thats why I'm planning my escape to either Brazil or Thailand. There is simply no future in the US.

Hemond: "The time of the United States has passed with no hope of a better future."
I refuse to be so pessimistic. However, for America to avoid the socialistic fate that is engulfing Europe, requires the American people to come to their senses. Specifically, they must stop looking to the government as dispenser of benefits, and recognize that the power of government, being always a potential threat to freedom, needs to be kept as limited as possible, consistent with defending and maintaining the peace at home and abroad.
That means, among many other things, it is not government's responsibility (not the Federal government, in any case) to guarantee health care for all. Nor is it government's responsibility to play Robin Hood -- take from the rich and give to the poor -- as that is a good way to ensure nobody is rich and everybody is poor (except for officials of the government).
As a former President (a Democrat, at that), once said, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."

"The time of the United States has passed with no hope of a better future." That is the Republican position, Hemond, and I commend you for being so honest. I disagree. That's why I am no longer a Republican. I still think that America's best days are ahead of it. Just because one's rose colored glasses break is no reason to think that you are blind and to Palin (quit) all hope for the future, right where you are.
The GOP will eventually get its National act together or it will die a well deserved death.

I'm not optimistic that things will get better. Look at Britain and Europe. That is our future too under the socialist policies now coming in. I have come to accept that my country is lost. I am planning my escape to Thailand or Brazil in fact in the near future. The time of the United States has passed with no hope of a better future. The new era belongs to the countries which are now coming into their maturity. They too will eventually drink from the poisoned well of liberal progressiveness, but that will be many years hence. In the interim, they will boom just like the US and Europe once did. I want to be part of their bright future.
