Last year, you’ll recall, the weather experts forecast an ‘extremely active’ Atlantic hurricane season.  The folks at Home Depot and Lowe’s must have been delighted.  And the analysts tracking crude oil futures fervently watched The Weather Channel for any probable paths their spaghetti models might reveal.  And to the experts’ apparent embarrassment, the gods delivered the quietest hurricane season that anyone had seen in 50 years. And now, after one of the quietest hurricane seasons in decades, forecasters with The Weather Channel predict a below-average 2014 Atlantic hurricane season.  What if they're wrong again? ...

Keep in mind Experts can be Wrong. These same experts did not anticipate the past winters weather to be as bad as it was until it was already upon us.

If the "experts" predicted a quieter season, then I expect the opposite to happen. Batten down the hatches.

Countryman2013 - "This article says that we have added "lots of new refining capacity in the last 20 years?" I keep reading that we have not built ANY new refineries in 25 years!!! Who do we believe? Lotta guessing going on!!!"

Lotta misinformation. We have built a couple of refineries in that time, but the new refining capacity has come almost completely by expanding existing refineries.

Bottom line is these are only predictioins. The real story is Big Oil uses this to justify their grossly over charging for oil products. We are always one event away from higher prices at the pump.

Weather experts expect 'below average' 2014 hurricane season? Analysts tracking crude oil futures fervently watched The Weather Channel for any probable paths their 'spaghetti' models might reveal. The 'Weather Gods' delivered the quietest hurricane season in 50 years. The Weather Channel predicts a below average hurricane season. An active storm system could cause shutdowns that would tighten supplies through the US that is supplied by Gulf Coast refiners. Refinery shutdowns would resonate.
***Excuses, Excuses! You can't predict what Mother Nature will do, hurricanes will do what they want and go where they want! The price of fuel at the pump will never come down to reasonable levels, the 'Fuel Gods' have spoken. *Gas prices usually go UP with an approaching hurricane.
**Putz!! bwaaa ha ha ha !...
Drive vehicles with high mpg, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Only takes one. Amazed when we have had a tropical storm or a Cat 1, and the interviews are with people that say "i didn't think it would be bad, it was just a (cat 1 or storm). They breed high winds and tornados folks. I'll breath Dec 1st after storm season ends.
