Crude oil inventories increased by 6.6 million barrels to a total of 382.5 million barrels. At 382.5 million barrels, inventories are 3.4 million barrels below last year (-0.9%) and are near the upper half of the average range for this time of year.

GASOLINE INVENTORIES:
Gasoline inventories decreased by 5.1 million barrels to 217.2 million barrels. At 217.2 million barrels, inventories are down 4.0 million barrels, or 1.8% lower than one year ago. Here's how individual regions and their gasoline inventory fared last week: East...

magpie2013 - "If we are not buying a full tank of gas, there sales are down for the day! It also lets the oil and gas honchos know that something is wrong and this will lead them to investigate the reasons why. Not all of us can afford to fill up whenever we go out!"

If you're not buying a full tank of gas, then you're buying less gas more often. The end result is the same.

So buy 2 gallons 3 times a week, instead of 12 gallons every other week?

How is that going to "hit them back where it hurts their own pocket books!"?

Stop filling up your tanks and get what you need only. We can't stop the price hike but we can fight back! If you don't fill they lose money instead of letting them rake us over the coals hit them back where it hurts their own pocket books!

consumers know Pig Oil's games of BOHICA in the spring. Let's just call it what it is instead of finding newfangled ways to disguise it.

rrs517-you laugh, but you are not including:all out war on Iraq, and spliting up and handing out of their gigantic cheap oil fields,to China,Russia and many other international oil corporations,(the begining of the end of cheap oil)sanctions on Iran, propaganda war on Venezuela--and the importing of more oil than the US needs-at the ridiculous price of around $100.00 per barrel for a olong time now-to help keep the world price of crude oil high enough to frack, and steam tar out of sand pits--if it was a fair world market-first of all oil would not be $100.00 per barrel it would be under $40.00....and second at that price, they would be $40.00 away from frack oil being economically viable---on top of that US refineries export 4 million barrels of refioned goods per day----they have no intention of lowering the price of crude oil:and every intention of keeping it high enough to frack, and steam tar out of pits.

The O&G market does not operate by the supply and demand rules of economics. Prices are controlled by futures traders and speculators who bet the market daily. I laugh at comments that prices are due to price gouging by "big oil". Also, we've only built one new refinery in 35 years. Why do ya suppose that is?

I have been trying to tell everyone that will listen on here for a year now-it will make no difference what the inventory is,or how much people will conserve--they have created markets for even ridiculosly expensive to lift, low quality steam tar oil from Canada---and they need the sky high world oil prices to be able to get it out of the ground-and make a profit--affordable oil does not come from north America-it didn't 50 years ago-it didn't the last time we did this from 1973-1984(they went 2000 miles north into the tundra for expensive Alaskan oil, instead of super cheap middle east oil--and Alaska has real oil fields, not frack holes-and sand pits with tar, which are even more expensive)and it NEVER will-it would not make a difference if they ran ten pipes to the gulf--the oil it will carry costs up to $87.00 more per barrel to lift than true oil rich nations, with real oil fields-

Refinery issues, winter summer blends, corn ethanol, transport costs(rail vrs.pipe)sulfer restrictions, speculators, taxes and several others--all add cost----but by far the elephant in the room is the ridiculously high lifting cost range of north American frack, shale and steam tar oil-at $65.00 to $90.00 per barrel,it's not even close to a viable resource--and will always drive sky high prices. The world market had to be severely manipulated to make it possible in the first place--frack oil does not become economically viable until the world market price for crude oil goes over $80.00 per barrel---steam tar oil....$100.00 per barrel.

With a few more refineries, the switch-over could be staggered, and save on the supply/demand problem. But, this would give no opportunity to hose the consumer.

I wish our problems were all refining and transport----try the highest lifting costs on the planet for frack, shale and steam tar oil,at $65.00 to $90.00-- no one is ever going to see affordable fuel again, unless of course we start reversing the events of the last ten years-and start making deals with, and becoming friends with true oil rich countries that have cheap easy to access real oil fields/ with lifting costs of a couple bucks per barrel(like China and Russia are busy doing)with North American steam tar oil lifting costs up to $90.00 per barrel, you can bet the farm that the price for world market crude oil will not go much below $100.00 per barrel---and we need oil for at least half that price.

Stop with all the different blends and the cost to refine would be lower.
