After crashing into creek last September, Roy Ortiz may sue his rescuers and others for $500,000 for not noticing him faster.

According to ABC News, his attorney Ed Ferszt filed an intent to sue the county of Boulder and his rescuers for a tentative half a million dollars.

Ferszt said the county should have closed the road during floods in September. He said the first responders were also included because they did not realize Ortiz was trapped in the car until they prepared to lift it out of the water.

"He was not seen or it was assumed no one could have survived it," Ferszt said. "No one discerned he was there."

The accident happened Sept. 12 when Ortiz was driving to work, hit a washed out portion...

The guy sounds like he has a personal problem, contrary to his belief people do not live to help him. Too bad they can't arrest for stupidity!!

what a crock. so many selfish ppl out there today. Be thankful he was found at all. secondly, just cause there's no closed sign pay attention and take responsibility for your own actions.

should have left the car there. Goes to show how selfish and greedy people have become. Rather than thank the rescuer, you sue 'em now. No wonder no one wants to help a fellow human in distress.

Of course, the driver has no responsibilities of his own? Like why was he driving in this kind of weather? Why doesn't he alert anyone when they were around, that he was alive in the car?

What was he doing driving on a flooded road to begin with? He says the county should have closed the road? Take some personal responsibility!

He's alive - it was a flood situation - any rescue attempt must be done safely so more people don't become casualties. Forget the suit.

Colorado man may sue his rescuers for $500,000? He said the county should have closed the road during floods. The first responders were also included because they did not realize Ortiz was trapped in the car until they prepared to lift it out of the water. He was not seen or it was assumed no one could have survived it.
He hit a washed out portion of a local road which sent him plunging into a nearby creek. Ortiz found a small air pocket in the back of his car and spent the next two hours waiting for rescurers. **How did he know the rescuers were coming?
He has racked up $40,000 in medical bills and still has health problems and trouble sleeping.
***People make decisions in life, some are good and some are Not so good. His decision to drive on a flooded road was his decision and his alone. Anything that may have happened after that is his responsibility. Don't expect others to rescue you because you take a risk and a very 'STUPID' decision on your part. Your medical bills and sleeping problems are yours and yours alone. This lawyer comes along and sees money, money, money!!! NEXT!
**Here's another nice mess you've gotten me into, Stanley! **Would you like some cheese with that whine?
Drive vehicles with high mpg, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Ungrateful man. I hope the judge throws out his case and also makes him pay the court costs, and also write a formal apology to the rescuers who put themselves in harms way to save him.

Maybe this ungrateful man should spend some time doing community service work.
