Missouri motorists may soon be able to fill-up with E15 as early as this summer because of new policy being pushed through by Gov. Jay Nixon, even against objections of some lawmakers.

Missouri has long taken a leading role in promoting ethanol, the corn-based alcohol that has been mixed with conventional gasoline. Back in 2006, Missouri was among the first to require nearly all gasoline be mixed with 10% ethanol, also called E10.

However, Missouri lawmakers have been nervous to adopt a higher concentration of ethanol against concern from car manufacturers, gas stations, motorcycle makers, and small equipment manufacturers, who've said it could increase liability for station owners, harm engines, and caused voided warranties...

I would not buy it, as I understand it is less favorable and harmful to our engines, not to mention we will probably be spending more than we would for the other gas. Also wont be traveling thru missouri, so I guess they are willing to give up the tourist money also. This action by their Govenor will be leading to a few new problem definatly.

it's not complicated: stop EtOH in fuel. EtOH never was the answer. Never will be.

Does E15 provide any net reduction in consumption of oil products, or is it just a way to skim more profits to a small part of the farming sector, while increasing the costs for the rest of us?

By "net", I mean not only gasoline used by the end consumer, but any increase in oil products used to plant, grow, harvest, transport and process the corn used to make the ethanol.

While E15 may cost a bit less than E10, mpg will also be less, so will the cost per mile driven be more or less or about the same?

As an option in addition to E0 and E10? Yes - if clearly marked with a separate hose, and also labeled that it's for flex-fuel vehicles only. Instead of those grades, being forced to buy it because there's no other choice? No!

I like green energy. Ethanol being one of them. But you can't force me to buy something that will harm the vehicle or small engines. You need to start by having the motor manufactures make flex engines if it burns gasoline.

It's about time they realized the downside of their silly ethanol regulations. We need to end ethanol mandates and corn subsidies!

I was born in Missouri but if they start selling E15 I will never visit my home state again. With cars that are cleaner than ever do we still need the current RFS that is much changed from the original bill? It is time to repeal the RFS and get the ethanol removed from gas. If some want to run E10, E15 or E85 sell it in clearly marked seperate pumps but do not force Egas on everyone.

Put ethanol in an oak barrel for 7-12 years, not in a gas tank.

It's not really that complicated. Corn goes on your grill and on your plate. Gasoline goes in your tank.

We DO NOT want or need E-15. E-10 reduces the amount of poisonous CARBON MONOXIDE produced by all internal combustion gasoline engines. But MORE IS NOT BETTER!!!

Ethanol is terrible for both vehicles and the environment and it costs more to produce than refined gasoline. Ethanol is also heavily subsidized, that's why it's cheaper then regular.
