If you haven't noticed, gasoline prices remain on the move across much of the nation. In the last week, we've seen another jump at many pumps across the nation as the average for a gallon of gasoline has hit $3.40/gal, the highest since early October.

Some regions have seen it worse than others- the West Coast and Great Lakes have seen large spikes over the last week, and for the last three weeks in the Great Lakes, prices have jumped some 10-20c/gallon on a Saturday. The timing is quite interesting, but looking at markets, we see that these spikes in Great Lakes gas prices on Saturdays have been proceeded by large jumps in wholesale prices the Friday before.

On the West Coast, the surge in gasoline prices come as cleaner...

When you've already gone up 80 cents the previous 6 weeks(even though wholesale is only up 30) in GREEDway country, what's another 5?

If they keep this up no one will be able to afford to go to work, shame that corporate greed wins over all. We have seen a lot of Gas Stations close or being replaced with BP. These stations are even higher than our regular stations, its just geed by the oil and Gas companies.

It jumps in Daytona for the tourists at race time and for bikers at bike week. Funny huh? There is no real apparent reason except GREED.

Mp5482----crude oil prices came down after reaching their all time high of $145.00 per barrel in the summer of 2008 with the stock market meltdown-during the peak of the market crash, oil along with most other commodities was cut in half, and just as soon as the first bailout from Bush and Cheney-and the second bailout from Obama got the market back on life support crude oil prices came right back up-----it had nothing to do with anything in the oil business, that damage was caused 5 years earlier with war and lies---the reason it stabalized at or around $100.00 per barrel is at that price you can even make a profit on expensive leftover resources like frack, shale and steam tar oil----and the economy limps along at that price---$145.00 per barrel.......not so much.

Here in central Illinois there are no gradual increases. We get a minimum of a 25 cent spike at all stations within a couple of hours. Then it takes a couple weeks to trickle back down, unless, of course, we get another spike before the trickle is down to the previous level.

I've seen prices jump .40-.50 a gallon in just one week. Summer fuel? We still got winter in the Midwest. No summer for us this year. So what will that fuel change do to motor vehicles? If nothing then it's just a scam anyway to raise prices.

Somebody help me with this. After the election (Nov-Jan)before Pres Obama took office first term, gas dropped to under $2 here in Michigan. Then Election 2nd Term came around, Republicans came back with "When he took office gas prices were low, ". Bush years we were paying high ($3.60- over $4) prices. (DATA CLEARLY FOUND ON HERE IN PRICE CHARTS 8 YR HISTORY) Now everybody wants to blame Obama. Just find it weird, price drop, they use it against Obama second term Election. Repubican have to much interest in the Oil Companys.

This disaster started 5 years before Obama--and here is the real trouble, developing and extracting more super expensive to develop and extract oil(frack, shale and steam tar oil)is never going to lower the price of fuel-in fact it's the opposite-first you need sky high world market oil prices, then you can develop and extract extremely expensive leftover oil resources like frack, shale and steam oil--and the keystone is not going to lower any prices for us-don't get me wrong it will save a few dollars per barrel on transport costs--but what good is a few dollars off on a $100.00+ barrel of 17% less efficient steam slime going to do any of us? Bush and Cheney pushed for "north American energy independence" their foreign policy basically shut down cheap oil around the world(invasion of the middle east propaganda war on Venezuela) so "north American energy independence" could be accomplished. This is not Obama's energy plan, this is basically the 2005 energy policy act-How are you enjoying "north American energy independence" ? I think it totally blows,it's been ten years now and what I have been "independent" of is affordable fuel and any disposable income. Now Obama is to blame for not doing anything about this, and he is heavily involved in global shale natural gas...so he is just as bad in a different way-----but what most people think obama is supposed to do-approve the Keystone and more frack, shale and steam oil,is not going to help anything--oil with lifting costs of $60.00-$90.00 per barrel is never going to help anything. It will only fill the pockets of the rich oil men who paid for this to happen-

What a surprise that the oil companies got caught with their pants down not anticipating the cold weather and not keeping enough diesel and heating oil reserves which caused them to have to increase supply and make less gasoline. Now we all have to pay for their mistake. Shame on the oil companies and refiners.
