The Chicago Auto Show recently opened to the general public, and having checked out the show last week before the public (and thankfully a much quieter experience)- I can easily say that there's much to be excited about when it comes to buying a new vehicle.

There was an abundance of new fuel efficient vehicles- some gasoline and some diesel. Technology wise- it's really amazing to see how cars are integrating computing power, apps, and where the technology will take us.

Wifi hotspots, smartphone integration, bluetooth technology- all are likely to be options on your next car. Screens take the place of some gauges in cars as well- showing a host of different information- from tire pressure, to weather forecasts, to gas...

These are for the huge numbers of young drivers taking the road every year, not us old geezers!

All these extras that add and drive substantial cost to the vehicle which serve no purpose to increase fuel efficiency. What are we thinking?

Ok,

What we really need to focus on though is Re regulating big oil so that we can control the price of gasoline at the pump, as well as get the trillions of dollars back from them that they have STOLEN from the American People since 2001. It is time to regulate them even more severely than we did in the 70's.

Chicago Auto Show features what's to come in car manufacturing. An abundance of new fuel efficient vehicles, gasoline and diesel. How cars are integrating computing power, apps, and technology - Wifi hotspots, smartphone integration, bluetooth technology.
Screens take the place of some gauges, with information such as: tire pressure, weather forecasts, gas prices(?). Also, 9 speed tranmissions, different engine fuels: gasoline, E85 , Diesel, CNG and various sizes of engines. Some engines with turbocharges and superchargers.
*****New vehicles with technology and !!!!Prices!!!!
Some apps and information are useful, some Not so.
My vehicle has manual door locks, hand operated roll up windows, all around tinted windows, and wing windows in both front doors. It's Good to Go! NO Ethanol, Natural Gas, Electricity, Computer, or Hydrogen Fuel Cell needed for this one....... it's been good to go since day one!
Drive vehicles with high mpg, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

The Auto Show just left Grand Rapids last week and I did not even miss it in the least. This kind of HOG WASH HOOPLA doesn't interest me in the least.

okay. but honestly, i only need safety, fuel efficiency and general driving comfort.

all other bells/whistles (apps, blue - and whatever other color is - teeth, etc.) don't have any value to me to pay extra for.

Toy cars have limited use, but fuel efficient gasoline and diesels have promise for families that need a vehicle for a family with a useful range and good safety.

We recently bought a new moderate priced car and has a few of these high tech features. It cost more than our first 1800 sq ft brick 3 bedroom house which was nice new construction. It would seem that the car manufacturers are out hunting the goose that laid the golden egg.

My 06 and 04 cars have more than enough technology for my liking. As if being connected to the internet 24/7 is a human need. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with a little alone time to be with one's thoughts instead of always purposely distracting oneself from them.

What is to come should list options like blocking phones inside the vehicle so the driver can't text or talk on the phone to keep the driver from distracted driving.
