It's the first week in several that there's been a notable change in the national average, and even saying that is a push- but there's likely more forward momentum to come in the week ahead.

The U.S. national average rose to $3.285/gallon today, up from $3.266/gallon a week ago as oil prices rose to over $99/bbl late last week on economic optimism. By next Monday, it's likely we see a national average in the $3.30s/gallon as higher oil prices filter down to retail pumps nationally.

Montana remains the cheapest state for gasoline, averaging $3.02/gal, while South Carolina comes in at $3.05/gal, Texas at $3.06/gal, Utah at $3.07/gal, and Oklahoma at $3.07/gal. These states have consistently seen low prices in the last few...

Could be but if every one would buy only what they need this would certainly cut into their pocket books at the oil and government offices, Get it together stop filling your tanks and buy only what you need, most gas stations are high priced now. If you notice there is not a lot of customers and that means less money in their pockets.

Thank the Bush family who started this garbage, he gets richer and a good portion of our paychecks goes for gas to get to work. Maybe the slackers on assistance are smarter than the rest of us, while we bust our behinds and get part time jobs with our full time jobs to make ends meet. Sad that the middle class ( did I say middle class) which is becoming non-existent) are the ones who are killing themselves. Our government is letting us down, vote out the old time rich government senators and get in some new blood. And not the sons of ex-presidents!

We have 3 articles today on the same topic: 1) it's going higher, 2) it's holding steady, and 3) it's tiptoeing lower. Just as confusing as reading about global warming!
Oops! We now have 4...this one says it's "rocketing" higher.

Bush is just a dope-but he will take the blame for the start of this disaster right along with the one person who is more to blame than any other-Dick Cheney(and I am not trying to say Obama does not carry some blame for not helping the situation)Both the Bush and Cheney families are north American oil producers-and they promoted increased north American oil production, they pushed us into the Invasion of Iraq-and the strange propaganda war on Venezuela THAT ALMOST INSTANTLY STARTED DRIVING THE WORLD PRICE OF CRUDE OIL HIGHER THAN ANY OTHER POINT IN HISTORY even higher than when Nixon screwed with the middle east in 1973(Yom Kippur war and OPEC oil embargo)there is a very good reason for that---because without SKY HIGH world oil prices it would simply be impossible to get the incredibly expensive resources they are developing here out of the ground(frack, shale and steam tar oil)north American oil resources dont even come close in price to the lifting costs of middle east and Venezuelan lifting costs-they have $3.00 and $4.00 lifting costs---north American frack, shale and steam tar oil have lifting costs STARTING at $60.00---both Bush and Cheney pushed for incresed north American oil production-now we have it-and the incredibly high priced crude oil and fuel that always goes with it-how do you like it? I THINK IT BLOWS.

Thanks to those who re-elected ObaMe ,who promised European like gas & utility prices .They voted twice ,after he said this prior to being elected in 2008 ,before reading his comments .So ,don`t blame Bush . It`s the Kenyan version of socialism at work .

Why shouldn't the pump price rise if the cost of the raw material rises?

Sounds like a plan - jack the prices up while the weather is still way to bad to travel. That way you are ahead of the curve and you can gouge everyone the takes off traveling as soon as the weather improves!
