The new trading week is barely hours old and already oil prices are testing recent intraday lows, which could be a good sign for beleaguered motorists.

Oil prices currently have moved lower and are trading in the $91/bbl range, a price oil prices haven't closed at since May 2013. And what that could mean- lower gasoline prices- may show up in the weeks ahead if oil prices continue to hold at these levels.

This comes as North Dakota is likely to surpass producing one million barrels per day as a state. The latest numbers show North Dakota producing some 29.2 million barrels per day in October, 2013, the latest month for which data is available. Over 2013, North Dakota saw production increase every month, beginning the year...

Our prices are slowly dropping but I look for them to jump back up very soon.
I'm cynical that way.

Barrel prices may be down, but pump prices certainly haven't followed suit.

Oil has come down $10 a barrel the last couple of weeks. But gas around here has gone up 40 cents a gallon in the same time period.

For those of you who are still blinded by the shell game that is democrat and republican, and think that one side or the other is NOT out to fill their pockets and somehow have your best interests at heart---I urge you to reconsider----they are all dirty--Obama is heavily involved in global shale natural gas,and there is not too much green about blowing methane into the atmosphere, poluting ground and surface water like it is going out of style(I guess it is)and letting an army of trucks tear the hell out of our roads,so that Asia can have expensive energy-and what about pushing coal out of the way to do it?.......dirty-ALL OF THEM.

Presidents do not have anything at all to do with oil prices-especially when they are supplying military aid to Israel in wars with the middle east(Yom Kippur war,and OPEC oil embargo)pissing off all of the middle east countries that sold us super cheap oil for decades(Nixon)-and presidents love to mess with the power structure in the middle east especially north American oil producers that later became president for some reason-like Bush 41....... and other presidents who understand that our economy only works for rich people during periods of high fuel prices sometimes step in and change things, like Bill Clinton and his 1996 oil for food program with Iraq-to keep low priced oil flowing and to keep Iraqi citizens from starving---or Mr.Halliburton and Bush 43 invading the middle east countries that did not attack us on lies-that has no effect on oil prices,or the strange propaganda campaign on Venezuela(no one has even mentioned Venezuela since they left, except when old Hugo died)both of the times we have seen world oil prices go through the roof in the last forty years were the direct result of the actions of the president of the US--and the last time on march 20 2003 is still affecting us every single day.The terror was in the two giant oceans of cheap oil in Iraq and Venezuela--and the ones who were terrified were the north American oil producers--because they can't even come close to being able to compete with $20.00 and $30.00 market priced crude oil.

Hopefully they will come down and stay down..Maybe it will help the economy move forward ...

Very unlikely, lowering the price would be very unwise from a capitalist view.

Yeah, the president has nothing to do with gas prices, if anything the oil companies control the president, as they surely have the financial resources to manipulate any and all with sheer lobbying power.
Matter of fact, when the new president gets into office, you can bet the oil companies will be in the new presidents back pocket in a NY minute.

Lower demand for gas, lower prices for oil, and still the price of gas continues to go up. Something smells fishy.

It's not about helping, it's about capitalism. Nobody cares about helping, people care more about making money, it's always been this way, nothing new.

High gas prices keep consumption in check, it would be unwise to lower the price when they are making lots of bucks. They know the public is willing to pay whatever gasoline rises to, it's already proven that the market can sustain $4.00 gas.

And the roller coaster ride of fuel prices under Oblamer continues amid all the lies, coverups, scandals, failed economic policies, & gross incompetence. Working class taxpayers will continue to be screwed at the pump, with our utilities, & with our taxes while Oblamer pushes his tree hugging, stimulus sucking, union dominated, ultra liberal agenda. Stop this madness in Nov 2014!

Refineries are making out like a banshee! Bet they'll have record breaking numbers$$$$
But I don't think the price of gas will come down significantly, the days of cheap energy are over, it's up, up, up from here to the future.
