It’s no secret that many of us plan on driving to Christmas & New Year’s gatherings, but those who know where to fill up stand to reap the best savings.

In a recent analysis of retail gasoline prices across multiple types of providers, GasBuddy finds that ‘wholesale clubs’ (i.e., Costco, Sam’s Club, BJ’s Wholesale Club) offer the greatest savings versus other competing gasoline sellers in the area. The wholesale clubs’ price advantage for 2013 represents a differential of 11 cents per gallon versus other local stations.

“It's important with millions of Americans hitting the road for Christmas to give them tips on where they are likely to find the most savings at the pump,” says Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst...

Quick tips for saving money on your road trip this Christmas? Staying home is the best option but if you just have to go on a road trip for the holidays, check the gas station prices before leaving on your route with the GasBuddy Trip Cost Calculator. Or the GB mobile App on a smartphone when in need of fuel when driving.
For this location, many of the smaller chain gas stations offer savings below the large box stores or the large department/grocery chain stores and you don't have to pay cash for the savings either (use Credit). ARCO, Fred Meyer, Costco, Space Age, and 76 are some of the gas stations with lower fuel prices. Some gas stations may require a company card to buy their fuel.
Make sure you bring extra food, blankets, tools, and supplies with you when making a long road trip. You never know what will happen when venturing out!
Drive safe and have a Happy Time!
****The cost of membership for Costco does NOT apply, I buy much more food and other items then their gasoline. Rethink that one, Einstein!
My vehicle has manual door locks, hand operated roll up windows, all around tinted windows, and wing windows in both front doors. It's Good to Go! NO Ethanol, Natural Gas, Electricity, Computer, or Fuel Cell needed for this one....... it's been good to go since day one!
Drive vehicles with high mpg, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

That's if you want to open and carry another charge card. in that case have a card from every gas or oil company. I would rather keep my existing 2 cards and belong to Costco. Keep it Simple... it makes for a smaller wallet.

In this area Meijer offers a five cent discount for gas when using a Meijer credit card. Before the recent 27 cent jump in gas prices I bought gas for $3.07 at Meijer. That was the cheapest around including Sam's Club

Yeah but both Costco and Sams Club cost money to join. And the gas stations there only take members. So the question is Do you save enough over the year to make up the membership fee?
