Just in time for Christmas, there is hope for motorists that gasoline prices nationally will test lows we haven't seen since mid-November. The national average has declined for over a week, falling to $3.218 as of midnight, just two cents away from the low reached on November 11, when prices nationally were $3.192/gallon.

Several GasBuddy analysts believe there is enough momentum to cause prices to drop below their previous low in the next two weeks, helped lower by a significant jump in gasoline supply as oil refineries draw down their oil inventories as the end of the year approaches. Federal tax on fuel generally does not fluctuate much. State tax, on the other hand, does.

Haha. We jumped 30 cents on Thursday, and will go up again Monday. We will be closer to our highest of the year, as opposed to the lowest.

I think you spoke a little too soon. Our prices rose $.35 per gallon within the past 24 hours.

We can only hope! ... but I'm betting the grinch of Big Oil needs a big year end bonus (to cap off a stupid high profit already made) and our pain at the pump will make it happen!

I hope. I've seen some $2.99 prices, but retailers greed will probably spike the price before families start driving for the Christmas holiday, just like it did at Thanksgiving.

Look for a refinery issue, a weather related incident, or some unrealistic excuse to raise the price. Happens all the time.

They will go up this week, and again as we get closer to Christmas. Prices do not come down for a holiday.

I paid $2.93 for mid grade gas yesterday. No complaints here. I hope it continues to drop in 2014.
