Motorists were faced last week with something they haven't seen in several weeks: rising gasoline prices. According to GasBuddy.com, the national average made slight gains, rising a penny and a half versus where they stood the prior week. The U.S. national average stood at $3.21/gal, while in Canada prices averaged 121.4c/L, also a rise over the last week.

The tough part of the recent surprise rise is whether the trend will last to the upside or if this is just a temporary blip on the path to lower gasoline prices.

GasBuddy had been expecting the national average to bottom out between Thanksgiving and Christmas, as it has for the last several years. If prices have already bottomed out, it would go along with the fact that...

Kind of makes the consumer wonder what next summers "summer blends" will bring to the pricing market.

In the last full ten years since the invasion of Iraq oil prices have not gone down significantly with the exception of the few months during the peak of the market crash-before that in the summer of 2008 oil was higher than it is now,it reached its all time high in history in july 2008 at $145.00 per barrel.Just like most other commodities, during the peak of the crash oil was cut in half-and just like most other commodities oil prices came right back up with the market recovery(so the price of oil never really went down-the market did) WTI today is $93.03 brent is $108.47 thats $70.00 more per barrel than we paid before the middle east invasions----it is very interesting to me that $70.00 is the support cost per barrel for frack oil,China and Russia ended up controling most of Iraq's oil,the men who have more to blame for this than anyone else are both career oil men and made out almost as good as the Saudi's who get to sell the same $10.00 barrels of oil they sold before the wars for $100.00+ on the world market--who was in the planes on 911?...........Saudi's-----dont know what is going to happen? I would say the same thing that has happened the last ten years, you and I are going to pay 75% more for oil because that is how much more frack and shale oil cost to develop.

More of the same from the greedy oil companies. They will make any excuse to raise prices despite thier costs (oil) falling.
