Motorists that find themselves in close proximity to Orlando's International Airport rejoice: there's a much more affordable option nearby.

Wawa recently opened a new gas station just down the road from two of the most notorious gas stations in the nation. The two notorious stations have been selling gas at over $5/gallon, preying on motorists returning rental cars to the airport and hiding their prices- and it's been so bad that Orlando's mayor fought them and won in court- yet they continue to sell at prices far higher than nearby competitors.

GasBuddy spotters reported the new Wawa station, at 6500 S Semoran Blvd, as selling gasoline at $2.99/gal last Thursday. The timing was great for motorists just ahead of the Labor...

Never hear of Wawa but I do hate those stations who overcharge us tourists who do save & save to go on a trip only to be sucked up by pig-headed gas stations who darn-well know what they are doing & are just plain old heartless

Gas has always seemed more expensive by car return areas.

I am glad that is not the way it is here, the airport area is slightly higher, but its also outside of the lower priced area in the city. I didn't notice this until someone in a rental asked where the closest place was for him to fill up. Maybe in Orlando there is no other fuel near enough to the airport to maintain a full tank when returning the rental cars.

I love how threats from the city and court injunctions were completely impotent against those two stations, but all it took to bring relief was for a competing business to realize they had a potential market. Laws or not, TRUE gougers never succeed because some competitor will get wise and undercut them. Way to go, Wawa!

"Patience is bitter but the reward is sweet." I've heard about these particular stations on more than one occasion, and apparently, all of the negative press coverage has failed to correct their misdeeds. I hope this new station's opening now does the trick.

Good to see that those price gouging stations now have a competitor. What I would like to know is whether this will cause the other stations to lower their prices, and most importantly whether people are now using the new station instead of paying more at the other two.

I did not see the earlier report about this, and I am sure many did not, so thank you repeating what some call "old news".

Old news, but worth another "thata boy" pat on the back. Put the high priced gas stations out of business for taking advantage of the Florida visitors.
