The Energy Information Administration released its weekly report on the status of petroleum inventories in the United States today.

Here are some highlights:

CRUDE INVENTORIES:
Crude oil inventories decreased by 2.8 million barrels to a total of 360.5 million barrels. At 360.5 million barrels, inventories are 5.7 million barrels below last year (1.5%) and are near the upper constraint of the average range.

GASOLINE INVENTORIES:
Gasoline inventories decreased by 2.8 million barrels to 222.4 million barrels. At 222.4 million barrels, inventories are up 18.7 million barrels, or 9.2% higher than one year ago. Here's how individual regions and their gasoline inventory fared last week: East Coast (-0.4mb...

Exporting much of it too. Oil production here means little or nothing to the consumer.

Crude down from last year - at the upper end of average.
Gas up from last year.
My gas prices are 50-60 cents less than last year. Still high, but not as high as a year ago.

Need to get them back up... Keep the price down. Letting it fall is how the oil companies substantiate higher gas prices artificially.
