The Energy Information Administration released its weekly report on the status of petroleum inventories in the United States today.

Here are some highlights:

CRUDE INVENTORIES:
Crude oil inventories decreased by 2.8 million barrels to a total of 364.2 million barrels. At 364.2 million barrels, inventories are 15.9 million barrels below last year (4.2%) and are in the upper half of the average range.

GASOLINE INVENTORIES:
Gasoline inventories decreased by 1.4 million barrels to 222.7 million barrels. At 222.7 million barrels, inventories are up 12.7 million barrels, or 6.0% higher than one year ago. Here's how individual regions and their gasoline inventory fared last week: East Coast (-1.4mb); Midwest...

Gee.... 6/10 of one percent decline for gasoline inventories and 7/10 of one percent decline for crude oil inventories ought to be considered minimal, but speculators will mess with the numbers, some "expert" will declare the declines "massive" and pump prices will go up for no good reason.
