China's apparent oil demand in June rose by 11.7% to an average 9.99 million barrels per day (b/d) or 40.89 million metric tons (mt), a just-released Platts analysis of Chinese government data showed.

Apparent oil demand in June was the highest since February 2011. This was a rebound from relatively more sluggish growth in the first half of 2013 and demonstrates significant growth in relation to the comparatively low level in June last year.

In May this year apparent oil demand edged up just 1.9% year over year to an average 9.53 million b/d while in April, apparent demand rose 2.1% to an average 9.66 million b/d.

Refinery runs, or capacity utilization, surged 10.8% in June versus a year earlier to 9.68 million...

Since the US has found trillions of feet of natural gas that will even run our vehicles send the coal to China that's building a new plant every 2 weeks. Make them pay for coal the high price we used to be under the thumb of OPEC. China is also running out of land for all those people. Watch out Russia.!!

China Oil Demand Rises 11.7% in June from year ago and the Chinese economy was down?
China has more people, more cars, more trucks – need more oil and more fuel!
The US has its own crude oil and fuel and we still get hosed at the pump by Big Oil! Take care of the domestic fuel market first and stop exporting and selling fuel or natural gas to other countries! The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Stop exporting fuel to China and other countries!
More Refineries are Not the Answer, Stop Exporting Fuel Is the Answer!
Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

Data from China is dubious at best. This is a gov't controlled system based on feudal relationships and what the reporting agency thinks the upper management wants to hear. The locals are however buying lots of cars (Ford) and the traffic is horrible according to reports, (except in the ghost cities where there are no people, no cars, no nothin). Smog so thick that Los Angeles smog memories are viewed as minor.

caddilac-US demand has been flat for many years-Americans are driving billions of miles less than they used to(to work and back mostly)and that kills our economy-spending has been down for ten years since oil went way up.====I know men that work here that live 60 and 70 miles one way and they spend almost one full week of pay just for gas---thats why Americans dont spend anymore-and the price of what they do but is driven up by high fuel prices----its even worse in Canada.

"China's apparent oil demand in June rose by 11.7% to an average 9.99 million barrels per day..."

How does that compare to the amount of demand daily for oil in the US?????
