A recently held Senate hearing on rising gasoline prices in Washington D.C. holds promise for Americans sick and tired of being bullied by higher gas prices.

Lawmakers asked questions of representatives of all lines of the oil industry- producers, refiners, marketers, and even a group representing motorists- trying to find an answer for rising pump prices amid booming domestic production.

Senators at a committee hearing were frustrated with fuel exports and refinery issues and maintenance for causing regional price spikes, while the oil industry tried to deflect criticizm with the head of Valero saying local prices reflected global shifts and blamed the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) for higher prices.

I respectfully disagree. Such hearings are announced over and over again, but nothing ever comes of it. Such announcements are just political posturing and campaigning. At least 50 such "hearings" have been announced over the last decade, but they accomplish nothing.

I thought the government was shut down.
Oh well, I guess they have to appear to be doing something to justify getting their paycheck (which apparently hasn't been affected by the shutdown).

The Senate bums know we can put 35 of them out of office next year which we will. Those that gets to stay another 6 years will go back to doing nothing.

Here's a list of POTUS problems -

Refuse to approve Keystone XL to bring heavy Canadian crude to Texas refineries to replace socialist OPEC heavy Venezuelan crude oil. Heavy Canadian is piped to Detroit, lowering retail gas prices - NOW!

Mandate higher amounts of higher-priced ethanol be mixed into less gasoline; EPA continues to force more ethanol into our gasoline.

Send billions overseas to buy "Think" City Electric cars & Fisker EV's from Finland, buy Chevy Volt batteries in Korea, send A123 EV Battery maker to China. Waste billions on "million electric cars by 2015" !
Wasted Trillion dollars of debt has devalued American dollar making oil more expensive.

Sabre rattling over Syria, causes world oil price to go up.
Sec. of State Hillary never corrected Iranian lies about them blowing up a Saudi pipeline. Caused gas price to go up.

Socialist US Senator Bernie Sanders lies about Canadian oil while socialist Venezuela continues to Ship heavy crude into Texas. And it goes on and on.

Instead of focusing on refiners’ margins, Congress should rework the Renewable Fuel Standard, mandating the use of ethanol, because a drop in fuel use will cause the share of ethanol to exceed the 10 percent that can be used safely by all vehicles

Goods will follow the demand. We are in a "new normal" now. We can save all the gas we can only to free it up for overseas sales. The same is true for pollution controls. We can clean up our air but China and India may not clean up their air. So what problem did we solve?

Remember, the prices we're paying are a result of having to get crude from Alberta and the Bakken Shale. We're no longer talking "Put a pipe in the ground and try to stem the flow from a Texan Gusher" sweet crude here.

Not only that, but people aren't buying as much fuel to use as before. So yeah, I'd seek out an export market if I were Valero, Shell and BP. And with our government unable to breathe anymore (thank you Republicans), Americans are going to pay so that the No-Longer-American (If not purely foreign) Oil Companies can profit by export instead of supplying us.

Increased domestic production should bring prices down, but we ship away a lot of the oil we drill, all of the Alsaka oil we drill gets shipped away overseas, so saying drill baby drill does not seem to help our situation until we decide to keep our resources here. thing is we don't own our own resources, the oil companies do. something wrong with this picture. most oil companies are foreign owned.

From Bloomberg July 11 2013
The Energy Information Administration lowered its forecast for gasoline demand for 2013 to the lowest level in 12 years and left unchanged its forecast for summer pump prices". Amazing how oil prices to go along with gasoline prices can spike when you have no energy independence and you rely on country's that..... we now how they feel about us. Also Actuality and hope have a wide distance between them.

Take oil out of the futures commodity market and the Speculators will have to stop artificially bidding up the price of oil.

Also, Big Oil execs will lie about anything to deflect blame for high gas prices.

The problem is oil is $107.00brl.that was changed from $20.00brl with lies and war to develop the scraps that are left of our oil industry-when we change that back we will have affordable oil again-for now invest in oil futures. If American oil production lowered prices gas would be $2.00 gal now,you see what they are doing(exporting)if not open your eyes and look-its A ten year robbery in progress.

Stop listening to fox and start reading, you see the results of increased American production-its A scam, open your eyes Obama is not an oil man-these are the actions of oil men-the only ones that are gaining anything from this are the oil men-and this is A ten year old story not A four and A half year old story>

American oil development is the result of high prices not the answer to high prices, the actions of ten years ago set in motion the sky high fuel prices of today this is exactly why we know the price wont drop,American oil production is not worth it if the price is low-it has to be over $80.00 per barrel to see A profit in America. And when it is $100.00per barrel it is worth exporting.
