Looking to buy a parking spot in a famed Boston neighborhood? It's going to cost you. According to the Boston Globe, Lisa Blumenthal just won an auction that saw two parking spots sell for a shocking $560,000.

According to the article, the spots behind 298 Commonwealth Ave. are in a neighborhood that already is home to the city's most expensive parking spots. A space at 48 Commonwealth Ave. set the record for a single spot at $300,000 in 2009. Two tandem spots a block from the Public Garden on Commonwealth Avenue sold for $200,000 last summer, and a spot on Marlborough Street went for $250,000 in December, according to the real estate firm Cabot & Co.

The rare opportunity to own a primo Back Bay parking spot came courtesy...

If I could afford those spaces I would have also bought a motorhome to park in one of the spaces. Boston Strong.

Sounds about right, inflation-wise....a friend was told it would cost him $100,000 in 1979! He took the job but left his car at home in Texas.

At least Boston has great public transportation if you don't or can't afford to drive and park.

I use to be in boston and it's crazy out there. No parking spots available. My friend he sold his car coz of the parking issues and everyone uses public transport like red line, green line.

Boston must be for the wealthy only. What do those within the poverty belt do in Boston? What are the wealthy in Boston doing to help those with less?
Those whom can afford to pay these high parking spot costs, are in a good
position to make a big difference for the betterment of mankind. GO WEALTHY BOSTON, YOU CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE and still live very well. GOD BLESS!

99: not likely, but definitely. Then again, maybe if you count amortization over the life of the car, it might cost less than parking tickets lol.

The parking spot likely costs more than the car. This makes no sense.

Back in 1979 my son's friend moved to Boston after high school graduation to study the culinary arts, driving up there in his new car. He drove it back the next weekend and left it at his parent's house because it was going to cost him $100,000 to park it!

"Want to park? Two spots in Boston sold for $560,000"

OMG, three or four days running for this blog as well.

And they are BOTH blogs by the moderators and are 'stickys' so that no new news article can bump them.

I can't believe the dreck that gets voted up to front page status these days. Rarely do the articles have a darn thing to do with the price of gas.

Ask these people to donate $10 to people in need, and most won't give you a dime! Do you know how many third world refugees could be fed on that kind of money?
