Young women are more likely to die in a car crash than a man their age, because they are more fragile, according to a new report this month from federal safety regulators.

The study, authored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, was not meant to determine which gender is more likely to text or speed – risky behaviors that lead to crashes, (although, young men are more likely to speed). Rather, NHTSA tried to compare how men and women fare when involved in otherwise similar crashes.

Overall, women were the most vulnerable, 17 percent more likely to be killed.

According to Paula Eisenstein of the Detroit Bureau, between the ages of 21 and 30, female drivers are 25.9 percent more likely to be...

young men survive because they are driving heavy muscle cars. women are driving fuel efficient tin cans. they crumple easier than those big trucks.

amusing to read some of the complaints... maybe it'd helped if you'd figure out that this is one of GB gods, senior analyst Patrick DeHaan. If you haven't gotten a clue yet, look up what the bus stands for in the vehicle "earnings."

Fragile? BS More likely to die because of more distractions? I can believe that, but fragile? I think not.

Young women face greater risk of dying in vehicle crashes, NHTSA? If the vehicle crash is hard enough, male OR female drivers have a chance of dying in a vehicle crash. Males have more muscle and bulk, females need padding inside the car. Gender specific cars, male or female? And the need for P, Sm, XL, XXL, XXXL vehicles too?
Don't drive distracted, agressive, speeding, drunk OR chewing gum!
The older you are, the more risk there is of being a fatality in a vehicle crash. Is that why old people drive so slow?
Drive vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

NHTSA has studied fifty years of crashes to derive this data. There is a radical difference in crashworthiness between a fifty year old vehicle and one made now.
