Today is the first day of March Madness- the largest college basketball tournament in America- so its high time we check out how maddening gas prices are so far in 2013.

While the year started off with a strong drive to the hoop (of oil companies and market players), with the national average climbing over 30 consecutive days, the subs have come in and the game has gotten much slower pace. Since the national average hit an early year peak of $3.74/gal on February 26, it has fallen to today's level of $3.658, much lower than last year when prices were in a significant upward trend at $3.85 and rising. Doing the math, today's national average is nearly 20 cents per gallon under a year ago.

However, the rally in prices in...

No reason to be mad about gas prices here. We are down about 45-cents from where we were 6 weeks ago, and still dropping.

Any guesses what you think the price of fuel will be by the end of the year? I'm guessing $4.50.

Need a flow chart were gasoline and diesel are used and see the cost of inflation related to high fuel prices for the consumer products and travel. That is were you'll see the greatest pain in your household budget. Disposable income(s) is getting smaller and smaller every yr. and that has become the new norm in just the last few years and not just in the last few months.

Screw the comparisons! Gas prices are too high in our country, and we should not be following global prices when we are producing most of our our fuels here now.

@QualTekGuy
Our prices will never be in line with European prices unless we significantly raise taxes. That's why fuel is more expensive in Europe.

i.e. If gas would be $7 a gallon here, it would be like $10-15 per gallon in Europe.

Lower by 2 cents and then jump up 20. The trend is still higher. Mr. Obama told us during his first campaign, and I quote, "under an Obama administration gasoline prices would necessarily skyrocket. I believe that they should be somewhere inline with European prices."

I just heard on the radio today the our gas prices will rise even thought we have higher inventories and less demand because we have to compete with "global demand". What a bunch of crap!!!!!!
